Attack on Titan Movie Announced

Attack on Titan has both its television series and manga concluded, which makes a major new revelation from the franchise all the more exciting. In an unexpected move, the Scout Regiment will be making a return through a feature-length film slated for theatrical release. Titled Attack on Titan: The Last Attack, the film promises to offer a thrilling experience for fans, along with a surprising release date.

Eren Jaeger, Mikasa, Armin, and the rest of Paradis Island may have wrapped up their stories in the original series, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t more surprises awaiting audiences. Attack on Titan: The Last Attack will hit Japanese theaters on November 8th this year. However, those expecting new material or a sequel to Hajime Isayama’s gripping story might find themselves disappointed. The movie is labeled a “compilation” and will be approximately 145 minutes long, just under two and a half hours.

The film will adapt the final episodes of the anime’s fourth season, covering some significant events in the battle against Eren Jaeger. Although it doesn’t contain new footage or serve as a sequel to the original ending, the production studio has updated the television series footage for this cinematic release.

Unfortunately, there is currently no announcement regarding a North American release for The Last Attack. However, given the rising popularity of anime in the West, it’s likely only a matter of time before the film reaches U.S. theaters.

Series director Yuichiro Hayashi shared insights, revealing that he had initially designed the final episodes to resemble a feature-length film. Hayashi expressed his excitement about the movie adaptation: “I originally drew the storyboards [for THE FINAL CHAPTERS] with the idea that it would be watched as a single movie. So, having the opportunity to have everyone watch it in the best possible environment, the theater, is a dream come true for me.”

Anime fans eagerly await more information about Attack on Titan’s grand return to the big screen. Keep an eye on the latest updates regarding the Scout Regiment’s adventures post-series finale.
