Aubrey Plaza Reveals Why She Never Watched Her White Lotus Series

Aubrey Plaza has opened up about why she hasn’t watched her season of The White Lotus.

The Parks and Recreation star, now 40, played an uptight lawyer named Harper in the second season of Mike White’s Emmy-winning series. The story follows Harper as she vacations in Sicily with her husband Ethan, portrayed by Will Sharpe.

Plaza admitted that she has not seen a single episode of the show’s second season due to technological issues that prevented her from accessing it. Speaking with The Wall Street Journal, Plaza revealed she gave up trying to watch her Emmy-nominated performance because she couldn’t log into her HBO Max account.

Discussing her attempts to watch the series, she said, “I still haven’t, but I’m going to. To be honest, I had trouble opening my HBO Max account when I was trying to watch it originally.”

She explained further, “I couldn’t figure out the password and I usually just give up when I can’t figure out the passwords. I just can’t handle things like that.” The Emily the Criminal star added, “I’d love a DVD, but they don’t send DVD sets anymore. I ask them every time.”

Plaza has previously expressed her frustration with streaming platforms. In a conversation with Vanity Fair last year, she mentioned becoming “really angry” when trying to use one.

She referenced another instance where she faced difficulties with streaming, saying, “I was trying to watch Top Chef season 20. Couldn’t figure out how to f***ing get Hulu + Live. I give up! I can’t. I just can’t.”

The third season of The White Lotus, delayed due to both writer and actor strikes in 2023, is slated for release in 2025 and will be set in Thailand.

Where the first season explored themes of money and the second focused on sex, the third is set to delve into spirituality and death.

Series creator Mike White previously hinted at the upcoming season, saying, “I think the third season would be maybe a satirical and funny look at death and Eastern religion and spirituality.”

He added, “It feels like it could be a rich tapestry to do another round at White Lotus.”
