Prime Video is finding major success with the release of Season 2 of the hit Australian drama Troppo. Following the return of Thomas Jane and Nicole Chamoun to our screens, the show has quickly risen to seventh place on the streaming platform’s top ten most-watched television series list. As a Freevee original, it’s a real gem in Amazon’s catalog, boasting a perfect 100% Rotten Tomatoes score from critics and plenty of praise from audiences for the exciting storyline.

Based on the Crimson Lake series of novels by Candice Fox, Troppo stars Jane as disgraced ex-cop Ted Conkaffey, who flees to the wilds of Far North Queensland after being accused of a disturbing crime he didn’t commit. There, he encounters the eccentric private investigator Amanda Pharrell (Chamoun), who has her own share of secrets but is dedicated to solving local disappearances, murders, and other cases. Season 1 saw Amanda recruit Ted for her first major case involving a Korean family man and tech pioneer who vanished without a trace. The new season picks up six months later, as the partners dive into a bizarre new murder case intertwined with an exotic drug ring. Their dark pasts come back to haunt them, with Amanda facing an old adversary and Ted’s family coming under threat from his former life.

Troppo has been praised for the excellent dynamic between its two very different investigators and how they work together to solve each murder they encounter. Each season delves into horrific murders set in the tropical Australian backdrop while also exploring the partners’ journeys to confront their haunting pasts and seek redemption. Created by Yolanda Ramke, the series also stars Radha Mitchell, Ling Cooper Tang, Lucas Linehan, and Angela Punch McGregor.

Although it’s been a while since Jane appeared in a high-profile project, his extensive body of work is impressive beyond Troppo. He’s featured in notable films like Boogie Nights, Deep Blue Sea, The Mist, 1922, and even portrayed Frank Castle in 2004’s The Punisher before Jon Bernthal took on the role. More recently, Jane was a main cast member in another Prime Video hit – The Expanse. Since leaving the sci-fi show in 2019, he’s taken roles in smaller films like Bad Hombres and One Ranger. Troppo has reinstated his prominence on screen alongside Chamoun, who herself appeared recently in The Gloaming on Starz.

All episodes of Troppo Seasons 1 and 2 are available to stream for free with ads now on Prime Video. Keep an eye out for the hottest new streaming shows and movies.
