Ayesha Curry Wipes Tears During Confrontation with Police in Paris

Officers on the street were reportedly preventing Ayesha and her family from returning to their vehicle after a significant event.

Ayesha Curry and her mother-in-law, Sonya Curry, found themselves in a stressful situation with French police following the U.S. men’s basketball team’s gold medal victory at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

In a video shared on X by The Hollywood Fix, Ayesha, aged 35, is seen wiping away tears while trying to reach her car on Saturday, August 10. This incident appeared to take place shortly after her husband’s team triumphed over France to secure the gold.

While carrying her three-month-old son, Caius Chai, in a baby carrier and holding her six-year-old son, Canon Jack, by the hand, Ayesha converses with police for about three minutes. They are joined by Sonya and Draymond Green, a teammate of Steph’s from the Golden State Warriors.

The specifics of the confrontation remain unclear, but Sonya can be heard shouting that someone had “touched the baby” during the commotion. Green adds to the concern, asking the police, “So even after him hitting the baby in the head, there’s still nothing y’all can do to get them out of here?”

The context of Green’s comments is lost, as no physical altercation is visible in the footage.

Sonya then gestures for Ayesha to follow her as she tries to move past the police to get to their vehicle. “It’s right there, where all those people are on that side. We were over there,” she explains to the officers. “They won’t let us go back over there where we came from. They won’t let the driver come here, and they won’t let us go back over there.”

A man who approached to translate for the police can be heard offering an apology on behalf of an officer, saying, “Sorry about the baby.” He attempts to calm the situation by informing Sonya that “nobody is allowed to cross this street right now,” likely due to the presence of French President Emmanuel Macron.

This unfortunate incident somewhat overshadowed what should have been a joyful celebration for the Curry family.

Team USA achieved a victory over France with a score of 98-87 to claim the gold medal on that Saturday at Bercy Arena, propelled by Steph Curry. Steph, making his debut as an Olympic champion, contributed significantly to the win by scoring 24 points, leading the American team to its fifth consecutive gold medal.
