Dog the Bounty Hunter star “Baby Lyssa” Chapman is returning to the family business that made her family a household name. Lyssa Chapman, daughter of Duane “Dog” Chapman and his third wife, Lyssa Rae Brittain, announced this week that she is preparing to retake her bail test to become a licensed bail bondswoman.

“Guess who’s getting back into the family business?!! Taking my bail test tomorrow,” Lyssa Chapman shared through an Instagram post on July 9. In the comments section, she clarified that she had not maintained her continuing education classes, causing her license to lapse. “I’ll have to retest and start from scratch,” she added. Chapman concluded the post with, “Look out Oahu, the Chapmans are back,” hinting that she would rejoin the family’s bail bonds company, Da Kine Bail Bonds.

Lyssa is no stranger to the family business. She previously worked with her father at Da Kine Bail Bonds and is also a former bounty hunter. She gained fame appearing on Dog The Bounty Hunter alongside her brother Duane Lee Chapman Jr. and other family members, including Dog, Beth Chapman, Leland Chapman, Cecily Barmore-Chapman, Garry Chapman, and Bonnie Chapman.

Chapman left the popular A&E reality show, which aired from 2004 to 2012, in its eighth season, just before the final episodes. However, in 2020, she announced that she would be using her bounty hunting skills once more. After receiving numerous messages from people searching for their missing loved ones, Chapman teamed up with fellow reality star Rainy Robinson to locate missing children and victims of sex trafficking. In an interview with The Sun , she said, “It is a huge calling for us, especially when it comes to children that are getting involved in sex trafficking and sex crimes. We feel very passionately about this – we didn’t choose this. This is choosing us.”

Lyssa’s return to the family bail business comes just a year after she expressed feelings of missing her father following his move from Hawaii. In June 2023, she shared, “going from having 5 million family members down to just me and my daughter, is indescribable and hard. The island got much bigger. Miss you all.”

Fans reacted with enthusiasm to the news that she is returning to the family business. “MG YES!!! Good luck on your test, you’ll do great. Beth will be with you telling you the answers lol,” one fan commented. Another added, “Omg the badass boss babe is back, go Lyssa.” A third wrote, “Yes this is what I love, we need amazing like you in the business.”
