Bad Bunny Joins Austin Butler in ‘Caught Stealing’ Film

Bad Bunny is diving back into the world of acting. Sony Pictures announced on Tuesday that the “Un Verano Sin Ti” artist will be joining Darren Aronofsky’s film “Caught Stealing,” which stars Austin Butler.

Although it’s yet to be revealed what role Bad Bunny will be playing, he’ll be sharing the screen with a talented cast that includes Zoë Kravitz, Regina King, Matt Smith, Liev Schreiber, and Will Brill.

The film is set in the 1990s and is based on the book “Caught Stealing” by Charlie Huston. The story will follow Hank Thompson, played by Butler, a former baseball player who becomes entangled in New York City’s crime scene. Neither Aronofsky nor Bad Bunny have publicly commented on the news yet.

This isn’t Bad Bunny’s first foray into acting. Aronofsky previously cast him in “Bullet Train,” where he appeared alongside Brad Pitt as The Wolf. Before that, Bad Bunny made his on-screen debut as Kitty Paez in Netflix’s “Narcos: México” in 2021. More recently, he starred as Felipe in Amazon’s 2023 film “Cassandro” with Gael García Bernal, which Rolling Stone listed as one of the 20 Best TV and Movie Performances of 2023.

The news of “Caught Stealing” comes just two months after Bad Bunny finished his 49-show Most Wanted Tour in celebration of his latest album, “Nadie Sabe Lo Que Va Pasar Mañana.” In addition to his music career, he’s also made appearances in WWE’s SmackDown, Backlash, and the Royal Rumble over the past two years.

Bad Bunny’s upcoming role was announced just days after Variety reported that J Balvin, his collaborator on “Oasis,” will be making his own acting debut. J Balvin is set to play an Interpol investigator in Andy Hines’ film “Little Lorraine.”
