Barack Obama has shared his summer playlist for 2024, showcasing his eclectic taste in music that spans hip hop, country, R&B, and techno house. The 43rd President revealed his top song selections on Monday, alongside his summer reading list. Absent from his playlist is the year’s top-selling song, Kendrick Lamar‘s Drake-diss “Not Like Us.”

Although steering clear of a potential hip-hop political debate by not including that track, Obama still highlighted various rappers. His list features songs like Megan Thee Stallion and GloRilla‘s “Wanna Be,” Saweetie‘s “My Best,” as well as older hits like Common‘s “The People” and 2Pac‘s “How Do U Want It.”

He showcased his diverse taste by also featuring modern country tunes such as Shaboozey‘s “A Bar Song (Tipsy),” Beyoncé‘s “Texas Hold ‘Em,” and a collaboration between Moneybagg Yo and Morgan Wallen titled “Whiskey Whiskey.”

Additionally, Obama included Latin trap hits like Bad Bunny and Feid‘s “Perro Negro” and Chris Jedi‘s “Bad Boy.” His preferred R&B songs made the list too, with tracks such as Jill Scott‘s “Golden” and Tommy Richman‘s “Million Dollar Baby.”

On the literature front, Obama endorsed the works of authors Percival Everett, Jonathan Blitzer, Lisa Ko, and Adelle Waldman, recommending their books for anyone’s summer reading.

Though he recently expressed his support for Kamala Harris to become the next President, Obama is currently focused on celebrating pop culture.
