Barbra Streisand Supports President Joe Biden Following George Clooney’s Op-ed

Megastar and Democratic supporter Barbra Streisand is not joining George Clooney’s call for President Joe Biden to step down as the Democratic presidential nominee. However, she has yet to comment on Clooney’s recent remarks.

Streisand, Clooney, Julia Roberts, and Jimmy Kimmel co-hosted a Hollywood fundraiser that raised $28 million for Biden’s campaign last month, shortly before his debate with Donald Trump.

However, Clooney has since criticized the president’s performance at the event in an op-ed, urging him to withdraw from the race. “It’s devastating to say it, but the Joe Biden I was with three weeks ago at the fundraiser was not the Joe ‘big F-ing deal’ Biden of 2010,” the “Ocean’s Eleven” actor wrote. “He wasn’t even the Joe Biden of 2020. He was the same man we all witnessed at the debate.”

Streisand, Kimmel, and Roberts have not made public their opinions on whether they share Clooney’s views. Representatives for Kimmel and Roberts did not respond, and Streisand’s spokesperson declined to comment.

Nevertheless, Streisand’s activity on social media suggests she remains a staunch supporter of Biden. Since the debate, Streisand has been actively posting in support of the president. “Debates are not governing. They are about televised theatrics. Biden is accomplished at governing. He is experienced and has accomplished a great deal,” she posted on the evening of the debate.

Days after Biden’s debate performance, Streisand shared a New York Times op-ed by Stuart Stevens, a former chief Republican strategist, advising Democrats to “stop panicking.” She commented, “This is very sound advice from a seasoned GOP operative. Biden had a bad night. Enough of the Democratic panic.”

On July 2, she compared Biden and Trump, tweeting, “Donald Trump constantly attacks our country. He praises dictators, not our democratic allies. Joe Biden loves this country and knows despite our problems, we remain the greatest nation in the world.”

Recently, Streisand, 82, praised Biden, 81, emphasizing his ongoing dedication to governing. She praised his work for “a strong economy with climate resilience and lower costs,” contrasting it with Trump’s behavior. “Trump spouts gibberish at his rallies about electric boats and sharks and showers that can’t wash his hair and then plays golf,” she wrote. “Which one of these men is more off the rails?”

Based on her social media posts, Streisand appears to firmly support Biden. Her continued backing underscores her belief in his capabilities, particularly in contrast to Trump.
