Barry Keoghan’s Unique Football Gear Could Start a New Fashion Trend

Barry Keoghan, the 31-year-old actor from Dublin, was recently seen sporting a unique piece of League of Ireland gear while playing soccer.

The actor shared a series of summer photos on Instagram, quickly catching the attention of sharp-eyed League of Ireland (LOI) fans. One photo in particular showed the Saltburn star on an astro pitch, where something interesting was spotted.

Dressed in a Columbia away jersey from this year’s Copa America, he completed his outfit with classic black Adidas boots and a pair of St Patrick’s Athletic shorts.

The Dublin soccer club confirmed in the comments that the shorts appeared to be match-issue player shorts. They seem to be from the 2022 season and bore the number 31, a squad number worn by young midfielder Kian Corbally that year. Corbally, 20, now plays for Wexford.

In 2020, Paul Mescal’s GAA shorts picture led to a surge in popularity for the humble O’Neill’s togs among the high fashion crowd, even spawning some notorious Gucci-branded duplicates. It remains to be seen if Keoghan wearing these shorts will have a similar impact for either Umbro, St Pat’s, or the League.
