“Battle of the Eras” Eliminates Eight Contestants in a Huge Night

Last week saw the official premiere of The Challenge’s biggest season in history with Season 40 kicking off. This landmark season features a massive cast of 40 participants from various eras of the show’s long-running history. However, the cast didn’t remain at 40 for long, wrapping up this week’s episode with the conclusion of the "Era Invitational." After eight grueling eliminations, a fifth of the cast was sent home.

Amanda Garcia

Known for her fierce personality, Amanda Garcia faced off against Nia. Coming into the game with a rivalry with Tori, Amanda hoped her connections would keep her safe. However, Amanda was thrown into elimination and, despite her efforts, was overpowered by Nia in the "Balls In" challenge.

Leroy Garrett

Leroy Garrett, one of the best never to have won The Challenge, returned to the main series despite announcing his retirement in Double Agents. Aiming to win money for his family, his journey ended early after finishing last in the first daily competition. Despite facing Tony in the "Balls In" challenge, Leroy faced an unexpected early exit.

Mark Long

Regarded as a staple from Era 1, Mark Long returned to the show. Notably known for his role in launching The Challenge All-Stars spin-off, Mark’s run ended early after finishing last in the daily competition. He faced Derrick in the "Pole Wrestle" and, despite his size advantage, Derrick’s skill secured Mark’s elimination.

Katie Cooley

Returning after 20 seasons, Katie Cooley’s comeback was short-lived. Her performance in the daily competition saw her placed against Aneesa in the "Pole Wrestle." Despite a valiant effort, Katie was unable to overpower Aneesa.

Paulie Calafiore

Paulie Calafiore’s tenure on The Challenge was marked by intense competition and strategic moves. His return saw him facing off against Theo to settle past disputes. However, in the "Hall Brawl" challenge, Theo proved to be too strong, resulting in Paulie’s elimination.

Nurys Mateo

Fresh off a stellar performance in Season 39, Nurys Mateo faced challenges in maintaining her momentum. Landing in elimination after struggling in the daily competition, she squared off against Olivia in the "Hall Brawl." Despite her best efforts, Olivia emerged victorious, sending Nurys home.

KellyAnne Judd

KellyAnne Judd, competing in a highly competitive Era 2 women’s group, was sent into elimination despite a strong performance. She was chosen to face Cara in the "Take Shelter" challenge. Even with support from her team, KellyAnne couldn’t secure the win and was eliminated.

Brandon Nelson

Brandon Nelson, who recently re-entered the game in All-Stars 4, found himself without strong alliances due to his time away from the show. This disadvantage saw him eliminated early. Facing off against Ryan in the "Take Shelter" challenge, Brandon’s unconventional strategy failed, leading to his exit.

After the eliminations, TJ unveiled the new twist of the season: "How you treat people really matters in this game." The eliminated players were given the chance to cast "karma votes," rating remaining competitors from 1 to 5. The impact of these votes is yet to be revealed.
