BBC Sacks ‘Match of the Day’ Host Jermaine Jenas After Misconduct Complaints

Jermaine Jenas has been dismissed by the BBC following complaints of ‘inappropriate behaviour’.

The Match of the Day presenter has been a staple on various flagship programs for the corporation and has contributed to significant sporting events, including the 2024 Euros.

Jenas, once considered a possible successor to Gary Lineker as host of MOTD, has also been removed from his presenting duties on the football program and The One Show.

“We can confirm that Jermaine Jenas is no longer part of our presenting lineup,” a BBC spokesperson said.

Jenas has not appeared on The One Show, where he became a permanent co-host in 2021, since July 22nd, opting for a two-week break during the Olympics. Most recently, he provided commentary for Ipswich’s return to the Premier League in their 2-0 defeat against Liverpool on Saturday.

Jenas transitioned to television punditry early after failing to recover from a knee injury. He has consistently worked across various media outlets, including TNT Sports, alongside his roles at the BBC.

During his playing career, Jenas began at Nottingham Forest, where he made 29 appearances before moving to Newcastle in 2002.

At Newcastle, he played 110 times and scored nine goals before switching to north-east London, joining Tottenham.

While at Spurs, he made 155 appearances from 2005 until 2013. Unfortunately, his career was marred by injuries, forcing him to retire in 2014.
