Beabadoobee Earns First Billboard Top 10 Album With ‘This Is How Tomorrow Moves’

Singer-songwriter beabadoobee achieves her first top 10 on Billboard’s Top Album Sales chart. Her latest studio album, This Is How Tomorrow Moves, debuts at No. 6 on the Aug. 24-dated chart. This release, her third full-length studio effort, marks her most successful sales week to date, selling nearly 9,000 copies in the U.S. in the week ending Aug. 15, according to Luminate.

Also notable in the latest Top Album Sales chart, Chappell Roan’s The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess climbs to a new peak, moving from No. 7 to No. 3. Moreover, King Gizzard and The Lizard Wizard’s Flight b741 enters at No. 7, and Logic’s Ultra 85 debuts at No. 8.

Billboard’s Top Album Sales chart ranks the top-selling albums of the week based solely on traditional album sales. The chart started on May 25, 1991, when Billboard began using electronically monitored piece count information from SoundScan, now Luminate. Pure album sales were the sole metric used by the Billboard 200 charts until Dec. 6, 2014, when the methodology expanded to include album sales, track equivalent albums, and streaming equivalent albums.

Of the nearly 9,000 copies sold of This Is How Tomorrow Moves in its first week, vinyl sales constituted the majority with 5,000 sold. The album was available in six different editions, including color variants and a picture disc. The set also debuts at No. 5 on the Vinyl Albums sales chart.

This Is How Tomorrow Moves enters the top 10 on several other Billboard album charts as well, including Indie Store Album Sales (No. 2), Top Alternative Albums (No. 5), Independent Albums (No. 6), Top Rock Albums (No. 7), and Top Rock & Alternative Albums (No. 10). It also debuts at No. 34 on the overall Billboard 200, marking her first appearance in the top 40 on that chart.

These charts rank the week’s most popular albums across various metrics. Top Rock & Alternative Albums, Top Rock Albums, and Top Alternative Albums rank the most popular rock and alternative albums by equivalent album units. Indie Store Album Sales ranks top-selling titles at independent and small chain record stores, while Independent Albums ranks the most popular independently released albums of the week by units.

In the broader Top Album Sales chart, Taylor Swift’s The Tortured Poets Department continues to reign at No. 1, holding the top spot for eight non-consecutive weeks with 28,000 copies sold (a 67% drop). Stray Kids’ ATE climbs from No. 3 to No. 2 with 18,000 copies sold (a 29% decline), and Chappell Roan’s The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess jumps from No. 7 to No. 3 with a 71% spike, selling 14,000 copies. ENHYPEN’s Romance: Untold stays at No. 4 with 10,000 sales (down 16%), and Billie Eilish’s Hit Me Hard and Soft holds at No. 5 with nearly 10,000 copies sold (an 8% dip).

King Gizzard and The Lizard Wizard’s Flight b741 debuts at No. 7 on Top Album Sales, earning the band its fourth top 10 entry and matching their highest chart position to date. The album sold nearly 8,500 copies in its first week, predominantly through vinyl sales. Two variants of the album sold a combined 7,000 copies, securing it the No. 2 spot on the Vinyl Albums chart.

Logic’s Ultra 85 marks his 10th top 10 entry on the Top Album Sales chart, debuting at No. 8 with nearly 7,000 copies sold. Of those, approximately 5,500 were vinyl sales across four variants. Additionally, the album enters at No. 4 on the Vinyl Albums chart. Ultra 85 was only available as a vinyl LP or digital download.

Completing the top 10, Charli XCX’s Brat moves up from No. 12 to No. 9, selling 6,000 copies (a 2% increase), while Twisters: The Album climbs from No. 17 to No. 10 with nearly 5,500 copies sold (a 9% rise).
