Ben Affleck Purchases New House Independently of Jennifer Lopez

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck have allegedly been spending some time apart, and now it seems that distance is being applied to their real estate, too.

After listing their shared Beverly Hills home—a massive $68 million property complete with pickleball courts, a 12-car garage, and a guest penthouse—Affleck has reportedly bought a new house in Los Angeles without his wife. According to real estate sources at TMZ, the actor closed escrow on a 5-bedroom, 6-bath mansion this week, shelling out $20.5 million for the Pacific Palisades home.

Back in June, Affleck and Lopez tried to quietly sell their Beverly Hills residence before officially putting it on the market earlier this month. The couple bought the house in May 2023 for just under $61 million. As to why they were selling the mansion, a source told People: “Ben never liked the house. It’s too far away from his kids.” They mentioned J.Lo didn’t enjoy the property either, adding that “the house is way too big for her.”

Prior to buying his new house, Affleck was staying at a rental property in Los Angeles. He’s stayed on the West Coast since filming The Accountant 2 there earlier this year. Lopez, meanwhile, took a solo vacation to Italy before spending her summer in the Hamptons—where she spent both Fourth of July and her lavish 55th birthday without her husband. Earlier this month, the two also spent their second wedding anniversary on opposite ends of the country.

Insiders have claimed the two are “taking space” from each other after “months” of working through issues, with some sources blaming the couple’s different approaches to fame as a stressor. Others have told People that “there are deeper issues.”

In May, Lopez addressed the rumors after a reporter asked for “the truth behind the situation.” She simply laughed and said, “You know better than that.” Since then, neither her nor Affleck have spoken on their relationship, although their distance seems to speak for itself.
