Beyoncé Appears Very Different in ‘Confusing’ Video Shared by Mom Tina Knowles

As one of the biggest artists on the planet, Beyoncé has an army of stylists and makeup artists to help her achieve her iconic looks for tours, music videos, and more.

In a recent social media post shared by Tina Knowles, Beyoncé surprised fans with a dramatically different appearance. In the video, Beyoncé could be seen in an all-white ensemble, sporting a blonde, cropped-bob hairstyle. The clip, originally taken in 2013, left fans baffled, as many initially thought it was a recent snap, indicating a dramatic transformation.

One fan captured the sentiment of many by writing, “As big of a fan [I am], I always see new pictures or videos of Bey I’m like, how did I miss this??” Another added, “What did you do???” while a third commented, “I’m flabbergasted.”

However, another fan cleared up the confusion by pointing out that the video was from Beyoncé’s 2013 Mrs. Carter official calendar. Tina, 70, had captioned the post with, “Wow, this looks like a Cécred day,” leading some fans to believe that Beyoncé had adopted the new hairstyle in support of her new haircare line, Cécred.

The launch of this haircare line was a deeply personal endeavor for Beyoncé, inspired by her mother’s long career as a hairdresser and salon owner. Beyoncé, 42, shared the connection, saying, “I was exposed to so many different kinds of entrepreneurial women in her salon. I saw firsthand how the ways we nurture and celebrate hair can directly impact our souls.”

She added, “I watched her heal and be of service to so many women. Having learned so much on my hair journey, I’ve always dreamed of carrying on her legacy.”

Beyoncé concluded with excitement: “I can’t wait for you to experience what I’ve been creating.”

Although the video shared by Tina wasn’t recent, Beyoncé has sported platinum blonde hair multiple times over the years. The singer, married to rapper Jay Z and mother to three children—Blue Ivy Carter, 12, and six-year-old twins, Rumi and Sir—embraced blonde locks ahead of the launch of her most recent album, Cowboy Carter.

Maintaining such striking hairstyles involves dedicated care. As Beyoncé explained in an interview with Essence for their March/April issue, “It’s all about moisture for me—adding oil to my scalp and covering my hair at night so the oils could penetrate. It brings back such great memories of my rituals as a child to maintain a healthy scalp.”

She further elaborated on her techniques to prevent hair damage: “Avoiding friction, my hair reverting, and using unnecessary heat are key.”
