Beyoncé ‘Never Scheduled’ to Attend 2024 Democratic National Convention

Despite weeks of rumors and unconfirmed reports suggesting her participation, Beyoncé “was never scheduled” to attend the 2024 Democratic National Convention in Chicago.

A representative for the singer clarified to the Hollywood Reporter, “Beyoncé was never scheduled to be there. The report of a performance is untrue.”

Her non-appearance surprised many. The 32-time Grammy-winning artist had approved the Harris campaign’s use of her song “Freedom” from the “Lemonade” album in a campaign video and has allowed the campaign to use the song throughout their events.

Additionally, Beyoncé has a history of supporting Democratic candidates. She endorsed the Joe Biden/Kamala Harris ticket in 2000 and performed in support of Hillary Clinton four years prior. She also performed at Barack Obama’s second inauguration in 2013.

Kamala Harris, the evening’s keynote speaker, will conclude a week-long convention by accepting the Democratic Party’s nomination for the presidency in the 2024 election against former President Donald J. Trump.

According to NBC News, Harris’ speech will praise President Joe Biden, outline her policy stances, and elaborate on her personal story and professional background as she seeks the presidency.

Harris’ remarks will close out the Chicago convention, which has featured speeches from notable figures such as former President Barack Obama, former First Lady Michelle Obama, former President Bill Clinton, and former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. Other speakers have included media mogul Oprah Winfrey, actress Mindy Kaling, and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, the vice-presidential nominee.

Broadcasts of the DNC have already garnered upwards of 20 million views according to Nielsen’s ratings. You can catch the final night of the convention on various networks including ABC, CBS, NBC, Scripps News, CNN, FOX Business, FOX News Channel, MSNBC, Newsmax, NewsNation, and PBS.
