Billy Baldwin Rejects Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Following Trump Endorsement

Billy Baldwin is cutting all ties with his former friend, Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

The actor shared a detailed statement on social media, announcing his decision to “completely disavow and dissociate myself from Bobby Kennedy Jr.” This move comes after Kennedy, a former Independent presidential candidate, dropped out of the race and endorsed Donald Trump.

Baldwin began his statement by reminiscing about his long-standing friendship with Kennedy. “I have known Bobby Kennedy Jr. for decades. We were friends. I loved his politics. His speeches inspired me,” Baldwin remarked. He added, “We were neighbors. Our kids were friends. We carpooled the kids to school for a few years.”

Baldwin criticized Kennedy’s presidential ambitions, describing his 2024 run as a “Hail Mary” attempt to hold office. He expressed profound disappointment in Kennedy’s decision to endorse Trump. “For him to end his pursuit of the presidency and endorse Trump is not only a betrayal of the values and traditions of the Kennedy family but it is also a cynical, hypocritical betrayal of his own political beliefs and personal feelings about Trump, which have been publicly documented for years and years,” Baldwin declared. He added, “His endorsement of Trump demonstrates his political cowardice. He has sold his political soul and desecrated the historic work and legacy of his father Robert and his uncle President John Kennedy.”

This endorsement has sparked significant backlash from Kennedy’s friends and family. Five of his siblings — Kathleen Kennedy Townsend, Courtney Kennedy, Kerry Kennedy, Chris Kennedy, and Rory Kennedy — issued a joint statement condemning his decision. They described it as “a betrayal of the values that our father and our family hold most dear.”

In their statement, the siblings said, “We want an America filled with hope and bound together by a shared vision of a brighter future, a future defined by individual freedom, economic promise and national pride. We believe in Harris and Walz. Our brother Bobby’s decision to endorse Trump today is a betrayal of the values that our father and our family hold most dear. It is a sad ending to a sad story.”

Additionally, Kennedy’s cousin, Jack Schlossberg, shared his thoughts on the situation on X (formerly Twitter). “Never been less surprised in my life. Been saying it for over a year — RFKjr is for sale, works for Trump. Bedfellows and loving it,” he commented. Schlossberg further added, “Kamala Harris is for the people — the easiest decision of all time just got easier.”

Baldwin echoed many of the Kennedy family’s sentiments in his statement. He emphasized his complete disassociation with Kennedy, concluding, “I too completely disavow and dissociate myself from Bobby Kennedy Jr.”
