Billy Ray Cyrus Divorces Wife Firerose After Seven Months of Marriage

Billy Ray Cyrus and Firerose’s whirlwind romance has officially come to an end. On Monday, August 5, their divorce was finalized after just seven months of marriage.

According to the 62-year-old singer’s legal team, the couple reached an agreement where Firerose, 35, will not receive any financial settlement from Billy Ray. However, he will surrender all rights and royalties for the songs they wrote together. Reflecting on the relationship’s downfall during a Tennessee court hearing, Billy Ray described his time with Firerose as a ‘scam’, telling TMZ, “This has been absolutely the most crazy insane scam I have ever heard of. Let alone the fact that I’m right in the center and basically the target of the scheme. It’s unfortunate it played out this way. Not only was it a web of lies that put me in physical danger, it was a matter of the heart. Love is blind, that’s for sure.”

The “Old Town Road” star initially filed for divorce in May, citing “irreconcilable differences” and “inappropriate marital conduct.” Court documents obtained by E! News show Billy Ray also sought an annulment, alleging “consent to marriage was obtained by fraud.” His official date of separation from Firerose was recorded as May 22.

While the specific reasons behind their split remain unclear, the once-actively posting couple have been noticeably absent from each other’s social media feeds since April. During that month, Firerose celebrated their union by sharing a post calling Billy Ray her “best friend” and reflecting on six months of marriage.

“6 months ago I married this man,” she wrote on April 12 alongside wedding photos. “Life isn’t always easy… but it sure helps when your husband’s also your best friend. Thank you Lord!”

Billy Ray and Firerose got married in October 2023 in an intimate ceremony, sharing images of the event on Instagram. Billy Ray’s caption read, “Long live love,” and he described it as the perfect day where their souls united in holy matrimony.

“10/10/23 will always be the beautiful, joyous day that our two souls united as one in holy matrimony,” Billy Ray wrote. “It was the most perfect, ethereal celebration of love we could have ever imagined. For both of us to hear the preacher say, ‘Billy Ray and Firerose Cyrus… I now pronounce you husband and wife,’ that was the sacred moment our new forever began.”

The couple had also collaborated musically several times, with their latest release being the single “After The Storm.”

The now-severed couple first went public with their relationship in August 2022, shortly after Billy Ray’s split from his ex-wife, Tish Cyrus. Tish, 57, moved on and married actor Dominic Purcell in August 2023. She and Billy Ray share five children: Miley, Noah, Brandi, Trace, and Braison Cyrus.

Adding to the ongoing drama within the Cyrus family, speculation about further unrest surfaced, though no confirmations or denials have been made. Just a week before the news of his divorce made headlines, Billy Ray gave a heartfelt shout-out to his daughter Miley, posting on Instagram about how “incredibly proud” he is of her.

“She’s a survivor and a true artist,” he wrote, praising Miley alongside a throwback photo of the “Flowers” singer. “She learned early on to love and appreciate the fans who make everything possible. We both cherish the connection we have with our fans and are grateful for every single one of you!”
