Black Sabbath Members Reunite to Reveal New Hometown Team Uniform

Black Sabbath legends Ozzy Osbourne and Geezer Butler have come together again, but this time not for music. The iconic duo stars in a new advertisement showcasing the new uniform for Aston Villa Football Club, their hometown team from Birmingham, England.

In the promotional clip, Ozzy and Geezer celebrate their Birmingham roots. The ad opens with Ozzy, dressed in the new home kit, making a phone call from his backyard. He dials up Geezer and says, “Let’s play Villa Park,” to which Butler replies, “As long as I’m left wing.”

What follows is a montage filled with local figures and sports personalities like coach Unai Emery, Ollie Watkins, Emiliano Martinez, Gabby Agbonlahor, and John McGinn, all eager to wear the new 2024-25 season home kit as the classic Black Sabbath track “Paranoid” plays in the background.

Throughout the commercial, Ozzy and Geezer make several appearances. Geezer is shown getting psyched up by zoning out to classical music, while Ozzy, in a humorous bit, yells at Sharon asking, “Have you seen my Preds [Adidas Predator Boots]?” At one point, an announcer on the P.A. system exclaims, “No. 11, the Prince of Darkness,” surprising a player, with Ozzy proudly calling himself “the biggest frontman to ever come out of Birmingham.”

As the ad reaches its conclusion, both Ozzy and Geezer appear in a montage of people delivering the rallying cry, “Up the Villa.” The camaraderie and local pride are evident throughout the ad.

This commercial appearance has sparked conversations about whether Ozzy and Geezer may consider a real Black Sabbath reunion. Although the legendary band officially retired, Ozzy Osbourne recently expressed regret over Black Sabbath’s final shows which were performed without their original drummer, Bill Ward, due to a contractual dispute.

Geezer Butler further fueled the speculation in a discussion with SiriusXM host Eddie Trunk, revealing that he and Ozzy have started talking again. Butler mentioned that the idea of doing one final Black Sabbath show has come up.

“Of course there’s an interest [on my part to do it], but there’s a big ‘but’ — you’d have to speak to Bill about it. Everybody wants to do it [but I don’t know if he is] capable [of pulling it off],” Butler explained. He also added, “Ozzy was hoping to finish it all off next year back in Aston, at the Aston Villa [football stadium in Aston, Birmingham, United Kingdom]. I’m definitely up for it, to finish the whole thing off.”

When asked if Tony Iommi or Bill Ward had been involved in the discussions, Butler stated, “Me and Ozzy have agreed, but I’m not sure about anybody else.” He later added that he would love to play a reunion show, “even if it was just for a short set.”

Since Black Sabbath officially retired in 2017, there have been a few spontaneous reunions. Ozzy and Tony Iommi notably shared the stage at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham in 2022. However, a full-fledged reunion tour is yet to happen.

Black Sabbath fans will keep hoping for that one final show where the legendary band bids a proper farewell. As the conversation continues, fans can still catch glimpses of their favorite rock icons in surprising places, such as football club advertisements.
