Blake Lively Fuels Rumors with Behind-the-Scenes Deadpool 3 Photo

Blake Lively’s latest Instagram post has sparked a flurry of speculation among fans, suggesting she might be the enigmatic Lady Deadpool in the upcoming Deadpool & Wolverine film.

In the shared image, Lively is seen with her husband, Ryan Reynolds, behind the scenes of the movie. Lady Deadpool, who has made blink-and-you-miss-it appearances in several trailers, is revealed more fully in the most recent teaser. Fans, having scrutinized the footage, believe Lively is the actress in the suit, noting the blonde ponytail and distinctive mask.

In her caption, Lively wrote, “Brb I’m buying milky pens to write your name on my hand @vancityreynolds.” She elaborated, mentioning various millennial cultural references such as Y2K obsessions and post-baby feelings, all while expressing pride about the influences they’ve had on Deadpool. The detailed list of cultural icons and personal anecdotes added to the theory that Lively herself might be playing Lady Deadpool. She concluded with, “I’ve never been more proud. And I’ve given birth 4 times.”

The possibility of Lively playing the role seems to make sense, especially since Deadpool & Wolverine’s marketing has been quite effective and engaging since the franchise began. Yet, it’s also possible they are just toying with the audience, sharing intimate behind-the-scenes glimpses to keep fans guessing.

Further fueling the rumors, Reynolds shared a TikTok video featuring Lively, referencing millennial culture. Lively teased, “Tell me Deadpool’s married to a millennial girl in real life without telling me.” This is followed by a check-list of references: Avril Lavigne’s music, the Harry Potter Sorting Hat, a Frozen quote, Celine Dion’s song for Deadpool 2, NSYNC’s “Bye Bye Bye” dance, and several others. Each reference matches perfectly with the teaser elements, reinforcing the possibility of Lively being under the mask. Reynolds’ caption, “My not so secret weapon,” has also been a strong hint for many fans.

Despite all the clues, Reynolds humorously added to the mystery by suggesting his favorite fan theory is that he himself is Lady Deadpool, albeit donning a wig and high heels. This self-deprecating joke highlights the playful nature of the marketing. He did, however, debunk this theory, citing the difference in shoulder width and hip movement.

From the trailers already released, it’s clear that the film explores a multiverse, leading to numerous cameo appearances from various Marvel characters. Fans have spotted Sabretooth, Pyro, and X-23 from Fox’s X-Men. Additionally, characters like Hunter B-15 from Loki’s universe make brief appearances. The multiverse concept opens up endless possibilities for surprise appearances.

Despite Marvel officially debunking the rumor, some fans still believe Taylor Swift might make a cameo, either as Dazzler or Lady Deadpool. The speculation harks back to actress Dafne Keen’s experience; she denied her involvement in the movie but eventually appeared in a trailer as a younger Wolverine variant. Keen credited Andrew Garfield’s advice on tight-lipped secrecy regarding Marvel projects. Garfield famously denied his appearance in Spider-Man: No Way Home, only for fans to discover otherwise upon the film’s release.

With the film’s release imminent, fans’ speculations will soon be put to rest. Deadpool & Wolverine will hit theaters on Friday, July 26, with early showings starting on Thursday in the US.
