Blake Lively’s ‘It Ends With Us’ Feud Rumors Clarified

Blake Lively’s latest movie, It Ends With Us, premiered on August 9, but it seems the film is generating more attention for alleged behind-the-scenes drama than for the movie itself. Rumors are swirling about tension on set, drawing comparisons to the chaos surrounding the release of Don’t Worry Darling. Let’s dive into the alleged issues between the actress and her co-stars.

It Ends With Us is based on a novel by renowned author Colleen Hoover. Released in 2016, the book received considerable acclaim and follows Lily Bloom, a post-college woman who finds herself entangled in a complex romantic relationship with neurosurgeon Ryle. While primarily a romance novel, it also addresses the serious topic of domestic violence. A sequel, It Starts With Us, was released in 2022. The film adaptation rights were acquired by Justin Baldoni’s Wayfarer Studios, with Blake Lively cast as Lily and Baldoni directing and playing Ryle.

Rumors of a feud between Lively and her co-stars have been making the rounds. Known for her role as Serena van der Woodsen in the CW show Gossip Girl, Lively has faced significant social media scrutiny over alleged diva-like behavior on the set of It Ends With Us. Notably, while promoting the film, Lively and some cast members participated in joint interviews, but Baldoni often did press on his own. According to PEOPLE magazine, neither Blake Lively nor Colleen Hoover follow Baldoni on social media, adding fuel to the fire.

Speculation is rampant about what really happened behind the scenes. Allegedly, Blake Lively and her husband, Ryan Reynolds, tried to influence the film’s creative direction. It’s rumored that there may even be two different versions of the movie: one reflecting Baldoni’s vision and another influenced by the power couple. Lively mentioned in an interview that Reynolds wrote at least one scene in the movie. However, it is believed that the studio sided with Baldoni, whose cut was ultimately released. It Ends With Us hit theaters on August 9 and is expected to reach streaming platforms soon.

Despite the swirling rumors, Lively has mostly kept quiet about the alleged spat. However, Baldoni seemed to indirectly address the topic in a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight. When asked if he would direct a sequel, he replied ambiguously, suggesting the query be revisited after he takes a vacation. He hinted at Lively’s capability, saying, “I think there are better people for that one. I think Blake Lively is ready to direct. That’s what I think.”
