“Born Again” Starring Jon Bernthal from “Walking Dead” Sets Release Date

Fresh off his Emmy nomination for his season 2 performance in “The Bear”, Walking Dead actor Jon Bernthal’s next project has been given a release date. As reported by Variety, Marvel showcased exclusive footage and announced a March 2025 release date for the Disney+ series “Daredevil: Born Again” during the D23 event in Anaheim, although the footage has not yet been made public.

The new series will continue to explore the Marvel character Daredevil, a role Charlie Cox originally brought to life in the Marvel Netflix series of the same name, which ran from 2015 to 2018. Cox returns for this new installment, which will have Dario Scardapane as the showrunner and Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead as lead directors. Written by Matt Corman and Chris Ord, “Daredevil: Born Again” promises a lighter tone than its Netflix predecessor. Initially slated for 18 episodes, the series has been trimmed to fewer episodes, aligning with the format of other Disney+ and Netflix series.

“Daredevil: Born Again” will follow the characters Matt Murdock (Cox) and Wilson Fist (Vincent D’Onofrio), who, despite giving up their alter-egos, find their past actions catching up to them as they attempt to serve the people of New York.

In a notable development for the franchise, “Daredevil” and its companion series — “Jessica Jones”, “Luke Cage”, “Iron Fist”, “The Defenders”, and “The Punisher” — were moved to Disney+ in 2022. This move marked the first mature content shows being added to the streaming service, necessitating the introduction of an age restriction feature.

Several actors from the original series will return. New additions to the cast for the upcoming series include Michael Gandolfini, Margarita Levieva, Jeremy Earl, and Ayelet Zurer as Vanessa Marianna-Fisk, taking over the role originally played by Sandrine Holt.

Jon Bernthal will reprise his role as Frank Castle/Punisher, a character he previously portrayed in “Daredevil” season 2, leading to his own spin-off series, “The Punisher”. Fans eager for Bernthal to return to this role can look forward to seeing him in “Daredevil: Born Again”.

Additionally, Taran Tactical generated excitement among fans by showing Bernthal and Thomas Jane, who played the Punisher in the 2004 movie, in tactical training together. Bernthal confirmed at GalaxyCon Raleigh that he trained with Jane for the upcoming series.

“Daredevil: Born Again” is set to premiere on Disney+ in March 2025, and fans won’t want to miss it.
