Born Again Unveils New Villain at D23 Event

Marvel’s presentation at D23 is set to provide fans with an exciting preview of the upcoming Daredevil: Born Again series. During the event, ComicBook’s Phase Zero Podcast revealed intriguing hints of what to expect from the new series through a thrilling look via a TVA Door. And it appears a new villain might be collaborating with the Kingpin this time around. The entire Daredevil: Born Again setting is marked with graffiti, hinting that Muse is likely to play a crucial role in the debut season on Disney+.

Created by Charles Soule and Ron Garney, Muse made his first appearance in 2016 and was a prominent character until his demise in Daredevil #600. This character was known as a mass murderer with a twisted artistic flair, painting murals with the blood of his victims.

Muse’s inclusion in the MCU is intriguing given his gruesome modus operandi and high body count. He would seem more fitting for Netflix-Marvel than for Disney+, given the dark nature of his crimes. Muse also possesses superpowers, making him a distinct and formidable opponent in the Daredevil universe. According to the Marvel Wiki, Muse’s body acts like a vortex, absorbing every bit of sensory information from his surroundings, which places Daredevil at a significant disadvantage despite his enhanced senses when facing off against Muse.

As Muse’s story progressed, his methods remained the same, though his motives became murky. After being jailed and subsequently escaping, Muse turned into a bizarre super-fan of costumed vigilantes. He created a shrine to The Punisher, leading to numerous dead cops and then-mayor Wilson Fisk using Muse as evidence of the inherent danger vigilantes pose to the public. Given that Fisk was recently attacked and severely wounded by Echo, it is plausible that a similar narrative could unfold in the new show. This scenario might see Fisk rallying public sentiment against street-level vigilantes, who in his view, present a greater threat than The Avengers.

Daredevil: Born Again will see the return of Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock / Daredevil, alongside Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk / Kingpin, Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle / Punisher, Wilson Bethel as Benjamin Poindexter / Bullseye, Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, Elden Henson as Foggy Nelson, Ayelet Zurer as Vanessa Fisk, Margarita Levieva, Michael Gandolfini, Genneya Walton, and Arty Froushan.

Daredevil: Born Again is slated for release on Disney+ in March 2025.
