Brad Pitt and George Clooney Dance to Standing Ovation for ‘Wolfs’ in Venice

Brad Pitt and George Clooney wowed the audience at the Venice Film Festival on Sunday night with their latest film, “Wolfs.” The movie received an enthusiastic four-minute standing ovation from the crowd, showcasing the star power of these two Hollywood legends.

The premiere experienced a 30-minute delay as fans packed into Venice’s Sala Grande, eagerly awaiting a sight of Pitt and Clooney. Once inside, the atmosphere was electric, with fans clamoring for autographs and selfies. Security eventually escorted the stars to their seats, but not before they spent time mingling with the crowd.

“Wolfs,” written and directed by “Spider-Man” director Jon Watts, features Pitt and Clooney as two professional fixers who usually work alone but are forced to team up for the same job. Unfortunately, Watts missed the premiere due to testing positive for COVID-19. The film also stars Amy Ryan, Austin Abrams, and Poorna Jagannathan. Excitingly, Apple has already announced a sequel with Watts, Pitt, and Clooney attached.

This film marks the first collaboration between Pitt and Clooney since the 2008 Coen Brothers’ black comedy “Burn After Reading.” The dynamic duo previously teamed up for the “Ocean’s” franchise from 2001 to 2007. Both actors have made notable appearances at the Venice Film Festival before, with Clooney attending in 2009 for “The Men Who Stare at Goats” and Pitt presenting David Fincher’s “Fight Club” in 1999. Pitt also earned the Volpi Cup for Best Actor in 2007 for his role in “The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford.”

In a recent interview with GQ, Pitt and Clooney discussed their long-standing friendship and the evolving state of Hollywood. Clooney lamented the decline of the studio system in developing stars, saying, “They haven’t developed stars the way the studio system used to. We kind of were at the very end of that.” He noted that it’s now more challenging to market films based on star power alone.

Following its successful premiere in Venice, “Wolfs” is set for a limited theatrical release starting on September 20. The film will then be available on Apple TV+ beginning September 27.
