BTS’ Jung Kook Worries About Solo Acceptance in ‘I Am Still’ Doc Trailer

The first official trailer for Jung Kook’s upcoming documentary, JUNG KOOK: I AM STILL, has been released. The BTS member expresses concerns about whether fans will accept him as a solo artist as he steps out from the massive shadow of the K-pop supergroup.

“I’m suddenly nervous, I’ll do my best guys,” he states in Korean during the one-minute preview of the film, set to premiere in theaters worldwide on September 18. Amid footage showing thousands of fans gathered in arenas and on streets, Jung Kook wonders, “Without the power of BTS, just on my own, will I be able to receive recognition?”

Reflecting on the success of his debut solo album, Golden, released in 2023, which entered the Billboard 200 chart at No. 2 and featured collaborations with Jack Harlow, Latto, and Major Lazer among others, he remarks, “with all these achievements I gained more self-confidence.” The trailer mixes footage of Jung Kook dancing and rehearsing in the studio, promising “eight months of golden moments.”

With a vow to “keep going forward,” the trailer shifts to highlight Jung Kook’s solo chart success and videos, playing his single “Standing Next To You,” which peaked at No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100. “I’ve never thought of myself as a genius,” he admits, aware of his artistic limitations, which only motivate him to improve.

“I just follow my own compass,” he says as the screen fades to black before zooming in on a clip of Jung Kook navigating a backstage area and acknowledging the ARMY fan group. “It’s always more fun with the fans,” he adds.

Promotional materials highlight that the documentary will capture Jung Kook’s journey as a solo artist, starting with his No. 1 Hot 100 hit “Seven” featuring Latto, released in July 2023, followed by Golden three months later. The film includes never-before-seen video footage, interviews, and concert performances. Directed by Junsoo Park and produced by Jiwon Yoon, the documentary will have limited screenings worldwide in more than 120 countries and regions starting September 18, with tickets on sale now.
