A video has gone viral showcasing Queen Elizabeth’s reactions during the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s wedding. A royal author is shedding light on what may have bothered the late monarch.

Weddings are typically joyous, but the royal wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle on May 19, 2018, at St. George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle, had a few moments where not everyone appeared happy. While the bride and groom were visibly joyful, other attendees, including Princess Anne, Zara Tindall, Camilla Parker Bowles, and Prince Edward’s wife Sophie, seemed uncomfortable.

Now, a video circulating widely shows Queen Elizabeth herself appearing less than thrilled during her grandson’s wedding to the former Suits star. There are insights from a royal author about what might have caused the late queen’s demeanor on that day.

If you browse through photos from Harry and Meghan’s wedding, you’d notice a scarcity of images where Queen Elizabeth is smiling. Recently, a TikTok video featuring a seemingly displeased queen has gone viral, amassing over 850,000 views, 129,000 likes, and countless comments speculating on her mood.

Some commenters speculated that the queen had reservations about Meghan from the beginning, suggesting, “The queen knew she was trouble right from the start. She was a great judge of character.” Another comment read, “I’m sure the queen felt something bad coming from Meghan. She was a smart old woman.”

Others offered the possibility that the queen might have simply been tired from the day’s events, noting her advanced age and the potentially exhausting schedule.

According to royal biographer Ingrid Seward, there were three specific aspects of the wedding that Queen Elizabeth found troubling.

Seward disclosed that the queen had daily phone conversations with her cousin, Lady Elizabeth Anson. During one such call, the queen remarked that she did not think Meghan’s dress was appropriate. Seward quoted the queen describing the Givenchy gown as “too white” for a divorcee getting remarried in a church to appear “quite so flamboyantly virginal.”

Another concern involved her husband, Prince Philip. Having had hip surgery weeks prior, the queen was anxious about whether he would manage the walk down the aisle. Seward wrote, “She was also concerned about 96-year-old Prince Philip’s decision to hobble down the aisle without a stick, despite having had a hip replacement just five weeks before.” Interestingly, Philip showed no signs of difficulty that day.

Finally, Seward explained that the queen and Philip were not fans of long sermons. Archbishop Michael Curry, who had never met Meghan and Harry before that day, delivered a 14-minute sermon about love during the ceremony, which the couple enjoyed but the monarch, evidently, did not.
