Cardi B Puts Family First Over Her Career

Cardi B places her family life above her music career. The 31-year-old rap star, who shares two children, Kulture, six, and Wave, two, with fellow rapper Offset, is committed to ensuring her children’s interests come first.

“My kids come first. My kids come before anything,” Cardi told Rolling Stone magazine.

Despite being one of the best-selling artists globally, Cardi insists that making money isn’t her primary driving force.

“If I was doing things for money, I would put out music every month because nothing pays me more than shows. I’m turning down these concerts because I don’t got no new music,” explained the ‘Bodak Yellow’ hitmaker, who worked as a stripper before her meteoric rise in the music industry.

Over the past few years, Cardi B has experienced a rapid ascent to fame. However, she has often hinted that she was actually happier before achieving her current level of success.

“One positive thing is that my family, whatever they want, they get. Everything that I want to buy, I can get. I don’t have to worry so much about my future,” Cardi told CR Fashion Book magazine.

“One negative thing is that, even though I’m happy, I feel like I was a little bit happier two or three years ago when I had less money.”

Cardi feels as though gaining fame has led her to lose some control over her own life.

“I had fewer people who had opinions about my life. I felt like my life was mine. Now I feel like I don’t even own my life. I feel like the world owns me,” the rapper shared.
