Carlo Ancelotti: Kylian Mbappé’s goals will surely come

Real Madrid’s coach Carlo Ancelotti has indicated that he is not worried about Kylian Mbappé’s recent goal drought, despite the forward not scoring in his last two LaLiga matches.

Mbappé made the switch to Madrid this summer on a five-year deal and managed to score his first goal for the team during their UEFA Super Cup triumph over Atalanta earlier this month.

In a recent LaLiga match against Real Valladolid, which Madrid won 3-0 at the Bernabéu, Mbappé was substituted after 86 minutes. This marked his second consecutive league appearance without finding the back of the net.

Federico Valverde opened the scoring for Madrid shortly after the half-time break, and substitute Brahim Díaz netted the second goal. Endrick, who replaced Mbappé, rounded off the scoring with his first goal for the club in the dying moments of the match.

During the post-match conference, Ancelotti addressed questions about Mbappé’s role as a center-forward rather than his traditional position on the wing. He firmly stated that this positioning was not hindering Mbappé’s contributions to the squad.

“No, I don’t think so at all,” Ancelotti remarked. “[Mbappé] is a spectacular forward, he’s very fast, and he moves well without the ball,” he added, reassuring fans about the player’s potential to score.

He acknowledged that Mbappé had three significant chances during the game, expressing confidence that he will find his scoring touch in that central position, as he has done consistently throughout his career.

Furthermore, Ancelotti lauded the performance of Endrick, who joined Madrid shortly after turning 18. “He looks good,” Ancelotti commented, highlighting the young player’s potential and skill set.

The coach noted, “He has great potential, and with the goal, he showcased all his qualities. He has good control and delivers a powerful shot.” He classified Endrick as a forward with an exceptional ability to operate in tight spaces, calling him “very, very dangerous” in the penalty area.

Real Madrid’s victory against Valladolid followed a frustrating 1-1 draw in their season opener against Real Mallorca, as the team seeks to defend their LaLiga title.

Currently, Madrid is dealing with some injury setbacks, with key midfielder Jude Bellingham and Eduardo Camavinga both sidelined. Additionally, defender Ferland Mendy missed the Valladolid match due to suspension.

Looking ahead, Madrid will face Las Palmas on Thursday before returning home to take on Real Betis next weekend, keeping their sights set on regaining momentum in the league.
