Carly Pearce Leads Spotify’s Cowgirl Celebration in L.A.

It’s the year of the cowgirl — as declared by Spotify.

Country music’s popularity has surged by 110 percent over the last five years in U.S. streams on the music platform. This rise is reflected culturally, with “cowboy core” continuing its influence on fashion, the growing fame of the Stagecoach Festival in Indio, Calif., and emerging stars like Zach Bryan redefining the genre. Even established artists have been embracing a country sound; Beyoncé infused her Texas roots into her eighth studio album, “Cowboy Carter,” released in March.

For singer-songwriter Carly Pearce, country music has always been her life. Born in Kentucky, she first made waves in Nashville in 2017 with “Every Little Thing.” The self-released song not only reached number one on the Billboard country chart but also secured her a contract with Big Machine Records. Pearce, now 34, has released four studio albums and earned accolades including a Grammy Award, three Country Music Association Awards, four Academy of Country Music Awards, and a CMT Music Award.

In a celebration of everything country, Spotify invited Carly Pearce to perform at Desert 5 Spot in Los Angeles on Wednesday. The evening was lively with line dancing, a DJ set by Brandi Cyrus, and an opening performance by newcomer Carter Faith.

The event took place at the country-inspired bar located on the rooftop of Tommie Hollywood, where cowboy hats and boots adorned the crowd, all embracing a Western theme.

Pearce made her entrance in a denim ensemble by Balmain, complemented by metallic silver boots by Raye and jewelry from Jenny Bird. Styled by Lindsey Dupuis Bledsoe, Pearce expressed her excitement for the look. “I always love a night when I get to wear cute boots,” Pearce told WWD. “This is one of my favorite looks that I have been able to wear. I am obsessed with it.”

During her performance, Pearce sang her latest single, “Truck on Fire,” from her new album, “Hummingbird,” set to release in June. “It’s such a fun one to play live,” Pearce said of the song. “Seeing the crowd sing the words back to me never gets old.”
