While the Democratic National Convention captured much of the media’s attention this week, music fans have something equally exciting to look forward to today. Several rap artists are dropping new projects that promise to close out the summer with a memorable bang. A New York rapper who’s been shaping the Big Apple’s sound, a talented young artist who’s been teasing his fans all year, and a veteran from Houston all have fresh albums ready for their audiences.
Cash Cobain, whose tracks like “Fisherr” defined New York City’s summer, is back with his highly awaited album, Play Cash Cobain. Featuring collaborations with artists like Laila! and Bay Swag, the album hits the scene as Cobain continues his Y2K! Tour with Ice Spice. However, fans will note that the album does not include the Ice Spice remix of “Fisherr”.
After creating much anticipation and celebrating his new album during his Trae Day festivities, Trae Tha Truth finally releases Crowd Control. This new album includes the single “Fires” featuring Lil Yachty, which dropped in July, and marks Trae’s first project of 2024. It follows his December 2023 release, Stuck in Motion.
Luh Tyler, the 2021 XXL Freshman, has his fans buzzing with the release of Mr. Skii. After teasing the project throughout the year, he’s finally shared it, featuring singles like “Bad B**ch” from March and “Young Ni**a” from May. The album also includes collaborations with artists such as Kodak Black and Trapland Pat, and the rollout continued with tracks “Handz Up” and “2 Slippery ” featuring Bossman Dlow over the summer. The 15-track album has been long-awaited and is sure to excite his followers.
