Adult film star Sophia Leone‘s cause of death has been confirmed as an accidental drug overdose, authorities in New Mexico announced on Tuesday, August 20.

Leone, 26, was discovered dead in her Albuquerque apartment on March 1. Initially, the investigation into her death was described as “suspicious” and “unique,” though no signs of trauma were found on her body. The Albuquerque Police have now confirmed that her death resulted from an accidental overdose but did not specify the substances involved.

According to a police report obtained by TMZ, Leone’s mother revealed that her daughter had a history of heavy drinking and had experienced suicidal thoughts.

Earlier, Albuquerque Police had refuted a claim by 101 Modeling, Leone’s agency, suggesting that her death was being investigated as a “robbery and homicide.”

Sophia Leone entered the adult film industry in 2014 at the age of 18 and appeared in more than 80 films over her career, according to her IMDb page.

Leone’s tragic death follows within days of another unfortunate incident involving a fellow adult film actress. Emily Willis’s family recently disclosed that she was “fighting for her life” in a vegetative coma, one month after suffering cardiac arrest at a Malibu rehabilitation center.

Additionally, the adult film industry has been recently struck by the deaths of two other former adult film actresses, Kagney Linn Carter, who passed away at 36 in February, and Jesse Jane, who died at the age of 43 in January.
