CBS Drama Parts Ways with Katherine Renee Kane

FBI is set to lose one of its key agents as Season 7 approaches. Deadline has confirmed that Katherine Renee Kane, who plays Special Agent Tiffany Wallace, will be leaving the CBS drama early in the upcoming season. Kane joined the cast in Season 3, substituting Ebonee Noel’s Kristen Chazal.

In a statement to the outlet, Kane explained her decision: “It was time to look towards new creative endeavors. I’m excited for the future and wish the show all the best.”

Although her departure is imminent, Kane is expected to appear in at least one more episode in Season 7 to conclude Tiffany’s storyline. Her exit arrives during a pivotal moment, considering Tiffany was grappling with the aftermath of Hobbs’ death in Season 6. Kane discussed Tiffany’s survivor’s guilt and her intense desire to find Hobbs’ killer in an interview with PopCulture.com before the season finale. She expressed her ambitions for Tiffany’s future, hoping for her to live “in more levity and a little bit more peace.” Kane added, “I absolutely would never want to hurt… Would never want to see Tiffany change from being front-footed, from having gumption and drive, but to see her with a little bit more ease would be a really, really nice new chapter.”

As of now, it remains unclear how the series will wrap up Tiffany’s story or if there’s a chance of Kane making a future return, even if briefly. Fans are speculating that her exit could be tied to Special Agent Hobbs’ death, continuing to explore its aftermath and Tiffany’s emotional journey. At a minimum, viewers can expect some form of closure for Tiffany’s character in Season 7.

In light of Kane’s departure, FBI wasted no time finding a replacement. Lisette Olivera from National Treasure has been cast as a new series regular, BAU agent Syd. Syd transitions from a desk agent to a field agent. While it’s difficult to predict how this new dynamic will unfold and how things will change in the absence of Kane’s Tiffany Wallace, fans won’t have to wait long to find out.

The FBI series will return for its new seasons on Tuesday, Oct. 15 starting at 8 p.m. ET. Though specific details about what lies ahead for the team at 26 Fed remain scarce, more information is expected to emerge in the coming weeks.
