Celebrate 75 Years of Peanuts at San Diego Comic-Con 2024

Some franchises are simply timeless, and Peanuts ranks high among them. Although it has been around for 75 years, the wave of Peanuts fans shows no signs of stopping.

Whether you are drawn to the Charlie Brown holiday specials, have a soft spot for Snoopy, or enjoy the comic strip, Peanuts remains as relevant now as it’s ever been. In light of this enduring popularity, there are some exciting events planned for the Peanuts gang at San Diego Comic-Con.

On Thursday, July 25th at 10 am, there will be a panel discussion titled “The History of Peanuts in Animation.” This engaging discussion will be held in Room 5AB and features a mix of familiar and fresh faces from the Peanuts franchise. Attendees can look forward to hearing from Todd Barbee, the voice of Charlie Brown in A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving, alongside Jason Mendelson, CEO and producer of Lee Mendelson Film Productions.

Joining them will be Rob Boutilier, the showrunner for Camp Snoopy, adding a recent touch to the beloved cast. Moreover, Paige Braddock, the chief creative officer of Charles M. Schulz Creative Associates and an executive producer on new Apple TV+ Peanuts content, will be present. Stephanie Betts, who shares the same executive producer role and is EVP of content creation at WildBrain, will also join the panel. To complete the lineup, Caleb Bellavance, who voiced Franklin in Welcome Home Franklin, brings a merge of the old and new to the discussion.

San Diego Comic-Con’s unofficial blog highlights that a Peanuts pop-up shop will be set up at 200 J. Street, open from 10 am to 6 pm daily. This pop-up will feature exclusive merchandise and screen episodes of Camp Snoopy. Additionally, it will pay homage to Charles Schulz, Lee Mendelson, and Bill Melendez, the trio behind many iconic Peanuts films. Special tribute will also be given to Vince Guaraldi and his unforgettable music, which forms a significant part of the Peanuts films.

One of the main attractions at San Diego Comic-Con will be the abundance of Peanuts merchandise available for purchase. At Booth #1635, fans can find an array of items including plushies, pens, trading cards, mugs, t-shirts, and much more. For those attending SDCC, it’s a chance to procure keepsakes adorned with beloved characters like Snoopy and Charlie Brown.

The Peanuts franchise is marking its 75th anniversary in grand style at San Diego Comic-Con. While fans anticipate new insights from the Apple TV and Peanuts partnership, it’s clear that SDCC is rolling out the red carpet for Charlie Brown, Snoopy, and the entire Peanuts gang.
