Celebrate National Bikini Day: The Hottest 2024 Two-Piece Moments

It’s National Bikini Day! Every year on July 5, we celebrate this iconic piece of clothing. While two-piece bathing suits were worn by women as early as the 1930s, the modern bikini made its debut on July 5, 1946. This significant event happened when French designer Louis Réard unveiled the swimsuit in Paris. Initially, the bikini was not warmly received. For many years, it faced resistance, including bans on public beaches in Spain and Italy.

The bikini’s popularity grew in Europe during the 1950s. However, in the United States, it was considered scandalous and inappropriate. Acceptance only started to build in the early 1960s, according to History.com.

In honor of National Bikini Day, let’s look at some of the best bikini moments we’ve seen this year from our favorite celebrities.
