Aug. 10 (UPI) — Canadian pop icon Celine Dion expressed her disapproval on Saturday regarding the 2024 Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump’s campaign utilizing one of her songs without permission during a rally in Montana.

Dion, along with her record label, Sony Music Entertainment Canada, voiced their concerns over a video that featured Dion’s 1997 hit “My Heart Will Go On” from the Titanic soundtrack. The video was played during a rally held by Trump and his running mate, Sen. JD Vance, R-Ohio, on Friday in Bozeman, Mont.

“In no way is this use authorized, and Celine Dion does not endorse this or any similar use,” Dion and her record label stated in a social media post.

They humorously added, “…And really, THAT song?”

By condemning the unauthorized use of her music, Dion joins a notable list of musicians who have expressed dissatisfaction with Trump’s campaigns in recent years.

This group includes the Rolling Stones, who threatened legal action over Trump’s use of their songs at his 2020 rallies. Pop star Rihanna also took action in 2018 by sending a cease-and-desist letter to his campaign. Additionally, Neil Young filed a lawsuit in 2020 to stop Trump from using “Rockin’ in the Free World” and other songs at his events.

Dion recently marked a memorable comeback after a four-year hiatus from live performances. Last month, she captivated the audience at the opening ceremony of the 2024 Paris Olympics. Her stirring rendition of Edith Piaf’s French anthem, “Hymn to Love,” at the Eiffel Tower left a lasting impression.
