Celine Dion Criticizes Trump Campaign for Using ‘My Heart Will Go On’ at Rally

Celine Dion has expressed her disapproval of Donald Trump and his campaign organizers for using her iconic song “My Heart Will Go On” at a recent rally in Montana.

The Oscar-winning ballad from the 1997 film “Titanic” was played during a video of Dion’s performance before Trump took the stage in Bozeman, Montana, on August 9, according to footage from the rally shared on X.

Following this event, Dion, who recently made her return to the stage after a four-year break, and her management team distanced themselves from the incident in an Instagram post.

A statement on her account read: “Celine Dion’s management team and her record label, Sony Music Entertainment Canada Inc, became aware of the unauthorized usage of the video, recording, musical performance, and likeness of Celine Dion singing ‘My Heart Will Go On’ at a Donald Trump/JD Vance campaign rally in Montana.”

“In no way is this use authorized and Celine Dion does not endorse this or any similar use,” the statement continued, concluding with, “… And really, that song?”

The Trump campaign has yet to respond to this statement.

The video played at the rally seems to be from Dion’s “Taking Chances World Tour” video and live album.

This isn’t the first instance where artists have protested against Trump for using their music at his events. Over the years, musicians like Rihanna, Phil Collins, Aerosmith, Pharrell Williams, and The Rolling Stones have all raised issues regarding the unauthorized use of their tracks by the Trump campaign.

Recently, Dion delivered a rare live performance at the Paris 2024 Olympics opening ceremony since being diagnosed with stiff person syndrome. She performed “Hymne à l’amour,” a classic by French singer Édith Piaf, from the Eiffel Tower, marking the beginning of the 2024 Games in Paris.
