Chadwick Boseman’s Last Tweet Supported Kamala Harris

As Kamala Harris ramps up her quest to become the Democratic nominee for president following Joe Biden’s unexpected exit from the race over the weekend, she received a surprise endorsement of sorts.

As pointed out by X user wondermann5, one of Chadwick Boseman’s final posts on Twitter, just weeks before his untimely death, was on Aug. 11, 2020, in support of Harris, who had just been named Biden’s running mate.

“YES @KamalaHarris! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾,” the Black Panther star wrote, accompanied by the hashtags #WhenWeAllVote and #Vote2020. He also shared a photo of him and Harris laughing and hugging at a Freedom for Immigrants event.

The resurfacing of Boseman’s final post had many fans feeling emotional. “Aww man, as if I haven’t cried enough today! Still miss that beautiful (inside & out) man. 💔🥺 #KamalaHarris2024,” one wrote. “We are going to win Chadwick,” posted another.

Boseman was 43 when he passed away on Aug. 28, 2020, following a four-year battle with colon cancer.

Both Harris, 59, and Boseman were graduates of Howard University, and when the news of Boseman’s death became public in 2020, Harris posted on Twitter, “Heartbroken. My friend and fellow Bison Chadwick Boseman was brilliant, kind, learned, and humble. He left too early, but his life made a difference. Sending my sincere condolences to his family.”

Biden, 81, announced on Sunday that he would not seek a second term as president, and he endorsed Harris shortly afterward.

“Today I want to offer my full support and endorsement for Kamala to be the nominee of our party this year,” Biden wrote on social media. “Democrats — it’s time to come together and beat Trump. Let’s do this.”

Many celebrities joined Biden in offering their support for Harris’ campaign, including Jamie Lee Curtis, Cardi B, Aaron Sorkin, Sheryl Lee Ralph, Yvette Nicole Brown, Jon Cryer, Kathy Griffin, and Spike Lee.

Within hours of Harris’ entry into the race against former president Donald Trump, the donation site Act Blue announced that it had received $46.7 million in small-donor contributions, making it the Democrats’ biggest fundraising day of the 2024 election cycle and the biggest since the 2020 election cycle.

Boseman, who portrayed Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall in 2017’s Marshall, was a passionate advocate for social justice and the Black Lives Matter movement.
