A white T-shirt hates to see Channing Tatum coming.
During an interview with GQ published on Monday, the “Blink Twice” star revealed that he went an entire year without washing his clothes, opting instead to buy new shirts every week.
“I hate doing laundry,” he confessed. “Like I hate it more than I could possibly say.”
The 44-year-old actor named “the year of the fresh white tee” as either “1999 or 2000,” a period during which he did not do laundry for a whole year.
“I just wore white T-shirts that I bought,” Tatum continued. “I’d be like, ‘I can get, like, two wears out of this a week.’”
Tatum’s T-shirt of choice has always been Hanes white tees or ribbed tank tops. He specifically prefers the “classic” style, not the “weird sort-of-fitted ones.”
“I always gravitated to just a very simple, old, tattered white shirt,” he explained. “It’s just a classic thing.”
The “Magic Mike” star pairs his basic look with Carhartt or Dickies pants, a habit he’s maintained since he was 18 years old.
“You can wear them in a disaster situation or while painting with your daughter in the backyard,” Tatum noted. “They’re just sort of infallible in my opinion.”
Other essential items for Tatum include his dog, Cutie, a Polaroid camera, Mezcal tequila, and a photo of his daughter, Everly, whom he shares with ex Jenna Dewan.
Though Tatum loves keeping things casual, he had to elevate his style for the press tour of his new thriller, “Blink Twice.”
The actor made his red carpet debut with his fiancée, Zoë Kravitz, earlier this month at the Los Angeles premiere of the film.
Tatum looked dapper in a black suit with a crisp white button-down shirt underneath. The slightly unbuttoned shirt and a white pocket square completed his look.
Meanwhile, Kravitz, who directed the film, opted for a chic backless black dress featuring large cutouts at her waist.
The lovebirds met on the set of the thriller, initially titled “Pussy Island.”
“When you make things with people, it’s a very sacred space, and when you’re compatible with someone creatively, it often opens up other channels because you’re sharing all of yourself,” Kravitz told WSJ. Magazine about casting and directing Tatum in the film.
“I’m really grateful that this movie has brought him into my life that way.”
The “Step Up” star proposed to Kravitz with a massive $550,000 diamond in October 2023 after two years of dating.
Kravitz, the daughter of Lenny Kravitz and Lisa Bonet, was previously married to actor Karl Glusman from June 2019 to December 2020.
Tatum, for his part, wed Dewan in July 2009, and they separated a decade later.
