Channing Tatum Served Legal Papers at Party Amid Ugly Jenna Dewan Divorce

Channing Tatum’s weekend getaway was disrupted by ongoing legal issues with his ex-wife, Jenna Dewan. While attending a high-profile gathering at Taylor Swift’s Rhode Island mansion, Tatum found himself dealing with legal documents related to his divorce proceedings.

The 44-year-old actor, alongside his fiancée Zoë Kravitz, was among the elite guests at Swift’s $17 million Watch Hill estate. The party, initially organized for Blake Lively’s 37th birthday, turned into a multi-day celebration that welcomed numerous A-list celebrities.

According to court records obtained by In Touch Weekly, Tatum’s leisurely weekend was cut short when he needed to sign legal documentation for his ongoing divorce case. This incident underscores the persistent nature of his legal struggles, which have been looming since his split from Dewan in 2018.

The core of the current legal dispute is Dewan’s motion to disqualify Tatum’s divorce attorneys. The 43-year-old actress alleges that Tatum hired a new law firm that had previously represented him during their marriage, posing a potential conflict of interest.

In his response, Tatum refuted any misconduct, with his legal team arguing that the law firm in question had never represented Dewan. “Neither law firm has ever had possession of any of Petitioner’s confidential information. And, there is no applicable legal authority to support Petitioner’s claim that the attorney-client privilege extends to a spouse of a minority shareholder of a business entity,” his legal team stated.

Tatum’s attorneys accused Dewan of trying to delay the divorce proceedings through this motion. “Contrary to [Jenna’s] claims, [Channing] has fully complied with his discovery obligations and thus, that is not and cannot be a basis to delay the Court-ordered depositions and discovery or other Court-ordered deadlines any further,” they contended.

The 21 Jump Street star was forthright in his declaration, describing Dewan’s actions as a “transparent attempt to divert the court’s attention from her willful violation of her court order deposition and discovery deadlines, delay these proceedings, and to prejudice [Channing] by removing his lead trial counsel less than three months before trial on a case that has been pending for more than six years.”

Tatum’s attorneys highlighted the suspicious timing of Dewan’s motion. “[Jenna] has known about Glaser Weil’s co-representation of [Channing] in this action with Blank Rome since May 2024. Yet, she waited until the eve of [Jenna’s] deposition (two months later) to make the baseless allegations,” they noted.

In response, Tatum is seeking not only the dismissal of Dewan’s motion but also a $20,000 fine against her. His legal team argues this punitive measure is necessary to “deter such obstructive conduct in the future.”

The ongoing legal wrangling between Tatum and Dewan primarily involves the division of their joint assets, with particular emphasis on Tatum’s investment in the Magic Mike franchise. Dewan claims she is entitled to a 50% share of this venture, which Tatum disputes. While he agrees Dewan should receive a portion, he contests the demand for an equal split.

In his recent statement, Tatum expressed his frustration, describing Dewan’s latest legal motion as “another delay tactic to prolong resolution of our financial settlement.”

Despite the legal disruptions, Tatum still made efforts to enjoy the star-studded event at Swift’s residence. Attendees included Hollywood A-listers and sports stars like Bradley Cooper, Gigi Hadid, Patrick Mahomes, and his wife Brittany Mahomes, according to Perez Hilton.

As the weekend progressed, the party’s guest list grew with Tatum and Kravitz joining on Monday, fresh from the premiere of their critically acclaimed film Blink Twice.

Swift’s boyfriend, Travis Kelce, also attended part of the festivities but left early due to work commitments. Other notable guests included Ryan Reynolds and Jason Kelce, accompanied by his wife Kylie.
