Chappell Roan & Charli XCX Soar in Top 5 Streaming Albums Chart

Chappell Roan’s The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess and Charli XCX’s Brat have reached new peaks on Billboard’s Top Streaming Albums chart dated August 17. Roan’s album climbed from No. 4 to No. 3, while Charli XCX’s album jumped from No. 10 to No. 5. Both artists also posted new one-week highs in streaming-equivalent album units and had their biggest streaming weeks to date.

Meanwhile, Morgan Wallen’s One Thing at a Time continues its dominance by logging an eighth non-consecutive week at the top of the chart. The only new entry in the top 10 this week is Ye (formerly Kanye West) and Ty Dolla $ign’s Vultures 2, which debuted at No. 6.

The 50-position Top Streaming Albums chart ranks the most-streamed albums in the U.S. each week, compiled by Luminate. Titles are ranked by streaming-equivalent album (SEA) units, with each SEA unit equating to 3,750 ad-supported or 1,250 paid/subscription on-demand official audio and video streams generated by songs from an album. When an artist has multiple albums containing the same song, SEA units for that song are typically assigned to whichever album sells the most by traditional album sales in a given week.

One Thing at a Time holds its No. 1 position on Top Streaming Albums with 60,500 SEA units, down 3% but still reflecting 83.11 million on-demand official streams of its songs. Taylor Swift’s The Tortured Poets Department moves from No. 3 to No. 2 with 57,500 units, also down 3%, which equals 75.43 million on-demand official streams. The album previously spent 11 consecutive weeks at No. 1 from May to July.

Roan’s The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess steps up to No. 3 with 55,000 SEA units, marking an 18% increase and totaling 72.66 million official on-demand streams. It’s the album’s best week both in SEA units and on-demand streams. The set debuted on April 27 at No. 34 and has been hovering around the Nos. 4-6 positions over the last six weeks.

Currently, Roan has four songs on the latest Streaming Songs chart dated August 17. Three of these tracks, “Hot To Go!”, “Pink Pony Club,” and “Red Wine Supernova,” all from Midwest Princess, reached new peaks. The non-album track “Good Luck, Babe!” also climbed from No. 5 to No. 4.

Zach Bryan’s former chart-topper The Great American Bar Scene fell from No. 2 to No. 4 with 50,000 SEA units, marking a 16% decline but still earning 65.53 million on-demand official streams.

Charli XCX’s Brat surged from No. 10 to No. 5 with 49,500 SEA units, up 49%, translating to 65.17 million on-demand official streams. This is the album’s best week in both SEA units and on-demand streams, largely boosted by the August 1 release of the “Guess” remix, featuring Billie Eilish. Originally, “Guess” featured solely Charli XCX on the deluxe edition of Brat; Eilish was added to a new remix on August 1. All versions of “Guess” are combined for charting purposes and contribute to Brat’s SEA total.

Three tracks from Brat are also on the Top Streaming Albums chart: “Guess,” debuting at No. 6, “Apple,” new at No. 39 and popular due to its viral dance trend, and “360,” which moved from No. 38 to No. 41.

The only new entry in the top 10 of the Top Streaming Albums chart this week is Vultures 2 by Ye and Ty Dolla $ign, debuting at No. 6 with nearly 46,000 SEA units and generating 59.44 million on-demand official streams from its 16-track streaming edition.
