Roan, known for her song “Good Luck, Babe!”, recently posted another message that further clarified her stance. She emphasized that while she appreciates her fans, there’s a line of decency that shouldn’t be crossed.

On Instagram, she wrote, “I’ve been in too many nonconsensual physical and social interactions and I just need to lay it out and remind you, women don’t owe you shit. I chose this career path because I love music and art and honoring my inner child, I do not accept harassment of any kind because I chose this path, nor do I deserve it.”

Roan received backlash from some fans who believe she might be in the wrong profession if she doesn’t want constant attention. She responded by clarifying, “When I’m on stage, when I’m performing, when I’m in drag, when I’m at a work event, when I’m doing press… I am at work. Any other circumstances, I am not in work mode. I am clocked out.”

By stating this, Roan is challenging the superfan culture. While she didn’t specifically name any other celebrities, she expressed her concerns that some stars have let fans cross boundaries too often. However, she’s determined not to allow that to happen to her.

Roan previously stated she would quit the music industry if she continued to feel unsafe. Her main issue seems to be with physical interactions and strangers acting overly familiar with her.

She summarized her views succinctly: “Please stop touching me. Please stop being weird to my family and friends. Please stop assuming things about me. There is always more to the story. I am scared and tired. And please — don’t call me Kayleigh. There is a part of myself that is just for me, and I don’t want that taken away from me.”

Whether fans fully understand her perspective now, it seems Roan is more concerned with them respecting her personal space and boundaries.

Some might argue that celebrities should expect constant attention, but Roan’s stance makes it clear she’s not willing to sacrifice her sense of safety and personal space for fame.
