Charmed and 90210 Cast Members Pay Tribute to Shannen Doherty’s Passing

The entertainment industry is mourning the loss of Shannen Doherty, the acclaimed star of “Beverly Hills, 90210” and “Charmed.” Doherty passed away at the age of 53 after a prolonged battle with breast cancer, diagnosed nine years ago. Although she went into remission in 2017, the cancer returned and reached stage four by February 2020, eventually spreading to her brain and bones.

The news of Doherty’s passing was confirmed by her publicist, Leslie Sloane. Sloane mentioned that Doherty, described as a devoted daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, was surrounded by her loved ones and her dog, Bowie. The family has requested privacy to grieve during this difficult time.

Alyssa Milano, Doherty’s co-star on “Charmed,” was among the first to pay tribute. Milano, who played Phoebe Halliwell on the show, acknowledged their publicized complicated relationship but emphasized her respect and admiration for Doherty. Milano’s statement highlighted Doherty’s talent and the void her passing has left in the hearts of many.

Other “Charmed” co-stars, including Ted King and Ted Krause, also shared their sentiments. King, who played Andy Trudeau, remembered their time on screen together fondly, describing Doherty as part of a special television couple. Krause, who portrayed Leo Wyatt, spoke about the lessons in strength, fearlessness, and purpose he learned from Doherty. He expressed his heartbreak and everlasting love for her.

Dorian Gregory, who played Darryl Morris on “Charmed,” praised Doherty’s strength, kindness, and beauty, expressing his deep sorrow over her passing. He noted that sometimes words are insufficient to convey one’s feelings, and this was one such occasion.

The cast of “Beverly Hills, 90210” also shared their condolences. Jason Priestly, who played Doherty’s on-screen brother Brandon Walsh, was shocked and saddened by the news. He described Doherty as a force of nature and conveyed his support to her family during this dark period.

Brian Austin Green, who played David Silver and dated Doherty briefly after she left the show in 1994, expressed his grief and appreciation for the love and lessons she brought into his life. He acknowledged his struggle to process the loss and thanked Doherty for the gift of her presence.

Jennie Garth, known for her role as Kelly Taylor, is still grappling with her grief. Garth paid tribute to Doherty’s strength and the genuine connection they shared, which was often misrepresented in public narratives. She praised Doherty’s courage, determination, and generosity, and expressed her intention to honor Doherty’s memory deeply.

Tori Spelling, who played Donna Martin, and Gabrielle Carteris, portraying Andrea Zuckerman, also shared heartfelt tributes. Spelling implied an unspoken understanding they shared, while Carteris reflected on the recent losses of their co-stars, mentioning Luke Perry and expressing her hope that he welcomed Doherty with open arms.
