Childish Gambino Drops Final Album “Bando Stone & the New World”: Stream

Donald Glover, widely known by his stage name Childish Gambino, has unveiled what he claims to be his final album under the moniker. Titled Bando Stone & the New World, this release serves as a soundtrack to his forthcoming movie bearing the same name. The album features 17 tracks and boasts an impressive list of collaborators, including Amaarae, Jorja Smith, Khruangbin, Chlöe, and even Glover’s own son, Legend. Notable contributors such as Max Martin, Tierra Whack, and Steve Lacy also received writing credits.

In a recent interview with the New York Times, Glover explained his decision to retire the Childish Gambino identity, stating, “It really was just like, ‘Oh, it’s done.’ It’s not fulfilling. And I just felt like I didn’t need to build in this way anymore.” This sentiment is echoed throughout the album, which Glover describes as a “big goodbye album” that emphasizes anthemic songs. The lead single “Lithonia” sets the tone for the record, featuring a mid-tempo, guitar-led arrangement reminiscent of classic rock ballads, complemented by Glover’s passionate vocals.

The album comes after the earlier release of Atavista in May, a “finished” version of Gambino’s fourth album 3.15.20. Both albums were announced together in April, heightening anticipation among fans. Bando Stone & the New World continues to showcase Glover’s eclectic style, blending various genres and musical influences to create a unique soundscape.

Fans have a lot to look forward to as Glover is also set to embark on a world tour starting on August 11th in Oklahoma City. The tour will make stops in major cities like Toronto, New York, Atlanta, Los Angeles, and numerous locations across Europe, culminating on February 11th, 2025, in Perth, Australia.
