Chris Hemsworth Joins Deadpool 3 Director Shawn Levy

Apple Original Films recently secured the rights to “The Corsair Code,” a highly anticipated film starring Chris Hemsworth. According to an exclusive report by Deadline, the movie is based on a short story by Jonathan Tropper.

Tropper initially brought the story to Hemsworth and his producing partner, Ben Grayson. Together, Hemsworth and Grayson will produce the film under their Wild State banner, with Apple Studios serving as the studio. Tropper will also write the screenplay and produce through his production company, Tropper Ink.

While specific details about the plot of “The Corsair Code” are currently being kept secret, the film is described as an intense sci-fi mystery adventure.

Tropper has an overall TV deal with Apple TV+ and is the creator and showrunner of “Your Friends and Neighbors,” which stars Jon Hamm and is currently in production. He also has two movies set to begin production this fall: “The Wrecking Crew,” directed by Angel Manuel Soto and starring Jason Momoa and Dave Bautista, and “Matchbox” for Mattel Films, which is being directed by Sam Hargrave.

In addition to these projects, Tropper is also attached to write a high-profile Star Wars film directed by Shawn Levy, known for his work on “Deadpool & Wolverine.” Tropper’s notable past works include the 2022 film “The Adam Project,” directed by Levy and starring Ryan Reynolds, and the 2014 comedy-drama “This Is Where I Leave You,” featuring Jason Bateman and Tina Fey.

His other credits include the 2017 drama “Kodachrome” with Ed Harris, Jason Sudeikis, and Elizabeth Olsen. Tropper also served as executive producer and showrunner for the second and third seasons of Apple TV+’s “See,” which stars Jason Momoa. Additionally, he co-created and executive produced the series “Banshee.”

Hemsworth was last seen in George Miller’s “Furiosa” and is set to lend his voice to the upcoming “Transformers One.” He and Grayson have been building a strong production track record with their company, Wild State.

Currently, Wild State is working on “Limitless 2” alongside Darren Aronofsky’s Protozoa and Nutopia, and the Bart Layton-helmed “Crime 101” with Working Title, which will star Hemsworth, Barry Keoghan, and Mark Ruffalo. The company is also developing a third “Extraction” film in collaboration with the Russo brothers’ AGBO.

Apple has an exciting lineup of projects in the works. This includes “The Instigators,” directed by Doug Liman and starring Matt Damon and Casey Affleck, which will premiere next month on Apple TV+. “Wolfs,” directed by Jon Watts and featuring George Clooney and Brad Pitt, will be released on September 20. “Blitz,” a World War II film written and directed by Steve McQueen and starring Saoirse Ronan, is set to debut on November 1. Additionally, the Formula One drama “F1,” starring Brad Pitt and directed by Joseph Kosinski, will be produced by Jerry Bruckheimer.
