Classic Rock Singer Greg Kihn Dies at 75 from Alzheimer’s Disease

Greg Kihn, the rocker known for hits like “Jeopardy” and “The Breakup Song,” has passed away at the age of 75. The news was confirmed in a press release on his official site, revealing that Kihn’s death followed a struggle with Alzheimer’s disease.

Born in 1949 in Baltimore, Maryland, Kihn displayed an early interest in music. He later relocated to San Francisco to further his musical ambitions. His breakthrough came in the 1980s with the global success of his songs “Jeopardy” and “The Breakup Song.” Beyond his music career, Kihn spent 17 years as a morning radio host for KFOX and also hosted a syndicated nighttime radio show that aired nationwide.

In addition to his music and radio career, Kihn had a variety of other interests and was involved in charity work. He authored six novels and several short stories. He even bred rare praying mantis species. His charitable efforts included working with organizations like Operation Care and Comfort.

Kihn’s career was marked by significant milestones, including the honor of having one of his songs parodied by “Weird Al” Yankovic. Yankovic’s parody, “I Lost on Jeopardy,” became a hit in its own right. Kihn made a cameo in the music video for the parody, appearing alongside Jeopardy! announcer Don Pardo, former host Art Fleming, and radio personality Dr. Demento.

Following Kihn’s passing, “Weird Al” Yankovic took to Instagram to post a photo and a brief tribute in memory of the rocker. Kihn is survived by his wife, Jay Arafiles-Kihn, his son Ryan, daughter Alexis, several grandchildren, and his sister, Laura Otremba.
