Clint Eastwood’s Longtime Girlfriend Christina Sandera’s Cause of Death Revealed

Christina Sandera, the longtime girlfriend of Clint Eastwood, passed away from a heart attack, as confirmed by the Monterey County Health Department.

The primary cause of her death was identified as cardiac arrhythmia, which occurs when the heart’s electrical impulses malfunction, leading to an abnormal heartbeat. Additionally, atherosclerotic coronary artery disease was noted as a contributing factor, according to a recent report from the New York Post.

Eastwood shared the news of Sandera’s passing last Thursday, though he did not mention the cause of death at that time. She was 61 years old when she died on July 18.

Sandera was a member of the board of directors for the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary Foundation, where she served as the chief developer and also managed a top-notch equestrian center in Carmel Valley. “Her commitment to both land and marine animals was truly inspiring,” the organization stated on Instagram. Despite her association with the high-profile Oscar winner, Sandera was described as someone who “eschewed the spotlight.”

“She was a ‘roll up your sleeves’ kind of person, always hands-on and deeply involved in her passions,” said the chapter director of the foundation.

Eastwood, now 94, had been in a relationship with Sandera for a decade. The couple kept much of their relationship private. They reportedly met at Eastwood’s Mission Ranch Hotel and Restaurant, where Sandera worked as a hostess. Both lived together in Carmel-by-the-Sea, a charming coastal town on the Monterey Peninsula where Eastwood once served as mayor.

Sandera accompanied Eastwood to multiple red carpet events, including their public debut as a couple at the 2015 Academy Awards. Eastwood was there for his role as a director and co-producer of “American Sniper,” which was nominated for six awards that year.

“Christina was a lovely, caring woman, and I will miss her very much,” Eastwood expressed in his Thursday statement.

Eastwood’s youngest daughter, Morgan Eastwood, also paid tribute to Sandera. “A devastating loss for our whole family,” she shared on her Instagram story. “Thank you, Christina, for being a good partner to my Dad. You will be missed.”
