CM Punk gives explicit response to claims of being a locker room cancer

While CM Punk has been out of the AEW Galaxy for nearly a year now, primarily due to his infamous altercation with Jack Perry just before the opening match of last year’s All In at Wembley Stadium, he remains a topic of conversation. Punk’s history with AEW has profoundly affected his image in the wrestling world, prompting many to question if he is truly a “locker room cancer” as suggested by numerous AEW fans or if such claims are merely AEW’s propaganda to maintain its reputation during this controversial chapter.

In a live interview with The Ringer’s The Masked Man Show from Fanatics Fest NYC, Punk dismissed these negative perceptions. He confidently addressed the accusations, saying, “That’s all bulls**t. None of that stuff is reality. ‘Oh, he’s a cancer.’ Listen, not everybody gets nice me. I treat you accordingly. If you’re a piece of s**t, and you act that way to me, I will treat you that way. If you’re nice, you’re smiling, you want to have a good time, let’s have a good time. I’m all hugs.”

Continuing his candid responses, Punk added, “It’s not like I’m two different people, there are just certain people, the ones that spread those lies and say those things about me, because they can’t control me and they can’t control the things I do and say. They absolutely hate that, so they try to control the way other people feel or see me. It’s bulls**t. You’re going to have to make your own judgment and draw your own conclusion.”

Whether Punk is all bad or all good is up for debate. In the end, like most individuals, he is a complex persona with a blend of positives and negatives. Punk’s journey consists of many ups and downs, often unfolding on a global stage with millions of fans watching. His fearlessness, while controversial, has undoubtedly kept him in the spotlight and significantly enhanced his clout within the wrestling community.

In related news, Shawn Michaels hinted at a more significant role for CM Punk in NXT during his appearance on WGN Radio. He spoke about Punk’s scheduled appearance for the first-ever episode of NXT on The CW, emphasizing the importance of Punk’s role. “Can’t let the cat out of the bag on that right now. So, he’s going to be there,” Michaels revealed. “He’s going to be playing a major role, obviously, for us. Certainly, other surprises are sure to come.”

Michaels also touched on the excitement of taking NXT back on the road for regular weekly television. He highlighted the importance of this opportunity for the young talents developing their WWE careers. “The NXT Universe, as they say, are very excited to be coming to Chicago. Here in Orlando, our talent, we absolutely love our home base here and our arena, but getting out on the road is a really big event for us and for our talent,” he said.

“So they’re excited to come and perform in front of, again, not just saying that, one of the greatest crowds that everybody around the world knows about, that’s Chicago there at the Allstate Arena. Absolutely one of the best crowds to perform in front of, and our NXT Superstars are extremely excited about getting to do just that,” Michaels added.

Punk’s interest in NXT is well-known among fans, with many speculating if he might eventually take over Michaels’ role as the leading figure of WWE’s developmental brand in a hybrid on-screen/backstage capacity. However, before that can materialize, Punk has some pressing matters in the ring, including his upcoming strap match with Drew McIntyre in Berlin. Given the unpredictability of professional wrestling, there is always the possibility of Punk experiencing another setback, reminiscent of his previous encounter in the “Second City.”
