Coco Gauff celebrated the launch of her new clothing collection in partnership with American Eagle in New York City on Wednesday. The Grand Slam tennis champion marked the occasion with an intimate dinner, joined by the likes of Paige Lorenze, founder of Dairy Boy, and actress Lola Tung.
To celebrate, Gauff dressed in a triple denim ensemble, showcasing pieces from her collection with the retailer. She wore a cropped denim corset, high-waisted crossover stovepipe jeans, and an oversized denim jacket. The jacket featured a nod to Gauff’s triumph at the U.S. Open.
On the back of her jacket was a quote from her speech following her first Grand Slam title win in New York City on September 9, 2023. The inspiring words read, “Thank you to the people who didn’t believe in me.” This quote was embossed on the jacket in varying fonts, with butterflies adorning the design.
Gauff’s limited-edition collection includes several other pieces like a pleated denim cargo miniskirt, a V-neck sweater tank top, and a sweater corset tank top. These pieces are a collaboration between the tennis star and the popular clothing and accessories retailer.
Beyond her fashion collaboration, Gauff is the face of American Eagle’s fall campaign and their recently revived brand platform, “Live Your Life.” Originally introduced two decades ago, the phrase has found new relevance with today’s consumers, with Gauff symbolizing the enterprising spirit of Gen Z.
“Coco Gauff, already a tennis icon, epitomizes the entrepreneurial spirit of Gen Z,” said Craig Brommers, American Eagle’s chief marketing officer. “Her business acumen, community impact, and unique style make her an ideal representative for this campaign. You’ll see her featured across all campaign elements — video, stills, and more.”
Gauff’s partnership with American Eagle isn’t her first. She signed her first multiyear deal with New Balance in 2018, and has since sported the brand’s tennis designs and shoes in various tournaments and Grand Slam events. The tennis star is gearing up to defend her title at the 2024 U.S. Open, starting Monday and concluding on September 8.
