Colby Minifie Stars in Horror Film “The Surrender”

Deadline reports that actress Colby Minifie has been cast alongside Grey’s Anatomy’s Kate Burton as the leads in the indie horror film The Surrender. Minifie is well known for her role as Virginia in AMC’s *Fear the Walking Dead*. She is likely best known for portraying Vought International exec. Ashley Barrett in Prime Video’s *The Boys* and the spinoff *Gen V*.

*The Surrender* marks Julia Max’s feature directorial debut. She tapped into her personal experience following the death of her stepfather to draw inspiration for the film. The movie is produced through Codepandent Films by Mia Chang (*It Follows*), Lovell Holder (*Peak Season*), and Ian McDonald (*Woman of the Hour*). Susan Gelb, Adam Maffei, and Rob Massar (*Peak Season*) serve as executive producers, with Brenden Rodriguez and Daniel Schwab co-producing and KW Campol as associate producer.

The story follows a family whose patriarch dies, putting further strain on the already fragile relationship between the surviving mother and daughter. The mother, desperate to reunite with her husband, turns to a mysterious stranger to resurrect her deceased love. When the brutal ritual spirals out of control, the women must put aside their differences and fight for their lives.

In addition to *Fear the Walking Dead* and *The Boys*, Minifie has appeared in several other notable TV shows. Her credits include episodes of Prime Video’s *The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel*, the Netflix original *Jessica Jones*, *The Blacklist*, *Law & Order: Special Victims Unit*, and *Nurse Jackie*.

Minifie has also featured in an array of films, including Charlie Kaufman’s *I’m Thinking of Ending Things*, *Radium Girls*, and *Submission*.

In 2021, Minifie starred in *Homebody*, a body/personality switching story directed by Joseph Sackett. She portrays Melanie, a babysitter studying to become a doula, who takes care of a boy named Johnny (Tre Ryder). The young boy is enamored with Melanie and utilizes transcendental meditation techniques learned on YouTube to inhabit her life. *Homebody* also stars Jasmin Walker, who appears in *The Walking Dead: Dead City*. The film is currently streaming on Peacock.
