Colin Jost Shares Rare Quotes on Scarlett Johansson’s 9-Year-Old Daughter Rose

Colin Jost is providing some rare insight into his relationship with Scarlett Johansson’s daughter, Rose.

In a new interview with The New York Times, the Saturday Night Live head writer and “Weekend Update” host, 42, discussed his family life with the Fly Me to the Moon actress, 39. Jost opened up about his experience of being a stepdad since he and Johansson began dating in 2017 and subsequently married in October 2020. The couple shares one child, 2-year-old son Cosmo, and co-parent 9-year-old Rose, Johansson’s daughter from her previous marriage to Romain Dauriac.

“I think part of the reason I fell in love with her is she’s a great mom,” Jost revealed in his interview. “I’ve known Rose, my stepdaughter, since she was 2. It’s weird. You get to actually preview someone as a mom.”

Johansson’s journey through relationships has seen its fair share of twists and turns. She began dating Dauriac, a French journalist, in 2013 and the pair got married in 2014. Their daughter Rose was born in August 2014; however, by January 2017, they had announced their divorce. The Black Widow star was also previously married to Ryan Reynolds from 2008 until their separation in 2011.

On the other hand, Jost’s marital journey began with Johansson. He had never been married before tying the knot with her, though he reportedly dated Parks and Recreation actress Rashida Jones for a few years during the 2010s.

Interestingly, both Reynolds and Jones have also moved forward in their respective personal lives. Reynolds, 47, married Blake Lively and the couple now has four children. Jones, 48, found love with Vampire Weekend’s frontman Ezra Koenig, and they share a young son together.

As for their own family, Johansson shared some amusing insights into how they are managing Cosmo’s “terrible twos.” In an October interaction with ET, the Avengers actress joked, “I think the ‘Terrible Twos’ are more like tackling me! Like, actually physically tackling me.”

Such candid glimpses into their family life are indeed rare, offering a unique look at the dynamics of their blended family. Seeing these Hollywood figures navigate parenthood and step-parenthood with such openness adds a touch of relatability to their larger-than-life personas.
