Collin Gosselin, son of Kate and Jon Gosselin, has been discharged from the U.S. Marines, and he claims it’s because of his mother’s decision in 2016 to place him in an institution for troubled kids.

Collin, one of the well-known Gosselin octuplets, says he was close to completing his Marine training when the Corps found out about his past stay at Fairmount Behavioral Health Institute in Pennsylvania. This discovery, he says, led to his discharge from the service.

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Collin explained that the Marines didn’t investigate the reasons behind his stay at the mental health facility. They simply discharged him without discussing the circumstances.

Collin expressed his feelings of resentment toward his mother for sending him to Fairmount. He believes she did it to cover up her own actions.

Kate responded to Collin’s accusations, stating that he had several psychiatric diagnoses at the time, and she felt she had no choice but to place him in the facility.

This development is a setback for Collin. Just last year, his father Jon was proud of his son’s achievements in Marine boot camp. Collin enlisted at 18 and started training at 19, soon after finishing high school.

Jon has been a strong supporter of his son, especially since Collin lived with him for two years following his time at the institution.

Despite the discharge, Collin is fighting the Marines’ decision because his dream has always been to serve as a U.S. Marine. In the meantime, he plans to focus his energy on pursuing a finance degree at Penn State.
